Can I ask a bizarre question? Bit embarrassing really but if I can't ask here heaven knows where I can!
I've been to the loo a couple of times today and smelt a really strange smell fleetingly, which I can (sorry for this) only describe as smelling a bit like semen . I'm sure I remember someone on another thread saying they recall their waters breaking having a similar smell. There's been no gushing or anything but now I'm panicking that my waters may be leaking. As I had to have antibiotics for GBS last time I've got myself into a bit of a state. Any ideas?

you may have protein in your wee - how far on are you? You need to check with your midwife

HonorMatopoeia · 17/09/2007 22:09

I'm 35 weeks tomorrow b&f. Ah, didn't know that could cause the smell too.

Hi I have heard that amniotic fluid smells like semen - why don't you call your local hospital for some reassurance?

dressedupnowheretogo · 17/09/2007 22:09

when my waters broke they didnt smell like semen and i'd had sex the night before lol

my waters smelt really sweet very very sweet

binkleandflip · 17/09/2007 22:10

Its worth asking I think

HonorMatopoeia · 17/09/2007 22:12

Sarahlou - I'm doing that daft thing whereby I'm thinking my toddler is in bed and I know the hospital would probably tell me to come in and I can't face getting her up!
I think I shall monitor loo trips but sounds like I'd better give my midwife a buzz in the morning. bum

I thought about that after I posted! Well good luck tomorrow, let us know what your midwife thinks.

Thanks will do!

so sorry ladies, have only just remembered this thread (i'd blame it on pg brain but I'm always the same!)
Midwife said all was fine, so trace of protein in urine so not really sure what it was all about. Hasn't happened since either...weird!

Is this the musky after sex smell, I've been thinking my discharge is a bit like this but haven't had my protien level checked.

Should I be looking further into this.
Sorry for the hijack but advice would be great.
