Has anyone had any luck with a sweep??

I am 38 weeks today and doctor tried to do a sweep but couldn't quite manage it properly as cervix was a bit inaccessible. Has anyone had any luck with a sweep?

why are you having one so early?

It´s what the doctor suggested as baby is far way down on the pelvis

is the pelvis position from palpation or a scan?

Yes, I am in the UK. The pelvis position was from a scan. I had one this morning as baby did not move much in the last 24 hours

Bmama, same thing happened to me - not pleasant is it? If it's any consolation I don't think the position of your cervix has anything to do with the imminence (or not in my case) of labour.

Are they going to induce you or let you carry on?

They are not going to induce me. After the scan they told me the baby is fine and has enough liquid around. Can they do more than one sweep??

If your cervix is not accessible it is a bit pointless
Better to wait til you are overdue

I had two sweeps but was 40+ 9 and 40+ 11 The second sweep was much more successful and I started labour by myself that evening. Mind you ds still took 2 more days to come!
