Hi, currently 33 weeks pregnant. Baby is in back to back position.
What are the chances of him turning ?
I’ve heard absolute horror stories about labour while being back to back & it’s terrified me!

My first baby was back to back, it was a harder labour than my second (not back to back) but it wasn't horrendous. Have a good read of pain relief in case the baby remains that way so you can make a decision. There's still plenty of time for the baby to move, at 33 weeks mine was transverse before going head down at 36 weeks.

Try Spinning Babies - the same movements that turn a baby head down can help them move from back to back too. You should try to be active and walk briskly as long as possible.

My baby was back to back. Needed a bit of extra help from a ventouse and an episiotomy to get him out, but he was big so might have needed that any way. The doctors said back to back babies often are a bit trickier. I've only had one baby so nothing to compare to, but the pain was manageable with gas and air and the whole thing quite quick, probably about 20 hours from the first twinge. I did find some positions quite uncomfortable and did most of the active labour stood up. If you are luck baby will turn, but if not just remember women have back to back babies all the time. Good luck

Both my babies were back to back. The first wasn’t a great birth, ended with forceps and episiotomy, 2nd was great, induced, waters broken and 20 mins of active labour, 20 mins pushing.... intense but fast.

My 2nd was back to back, it was actually the best labour of the three. I used the birth pool which was amazing. I got out to give birth, the midwife laid me on my back which was the worst pain i have ever felt. They quickly pulled me onto all fours and he arrived very quickly after that 😂 for comparison, with my first i didn't have painful contractions so when it got to pushing i was completely unprepared for the pain, and with my third i was induced and id say that was my most painful labour and birth.

My first baby was back to back but turned during labour. I just had gas & air but won’t lie it was harder than my second who was the right way round. Definitely explore pain relief but don’t get scared, I had no interventions xx
