First trimester, just under 6 weeks. Aside from increasing nausea and sore breasts, I'm cold all the time! Anyone else getting this? I'm not worried as I gather it is a symptom of early pregnancy for some people, I just want to whinge about it

Yes! I’ve read that in pregnancy women have raised temperatures but in early pregnancy I’m always freezing cold. I had my winter coat on today in the garden with my toddler playing.

Lavenderpurple · 05/05/2020 21:09

I feel cold, especially in the evenings at the moment. I put it down to tiredness, I’m exhausted.

Colinthedog · 05/05/2020 21:15

Yes I was like this for pretty much the first half of my pregnancy, I used to have to sit under a blanket even when the heating was on. I remember being surprised as I expected to be hotter in pregnancy, but nope!

RestorationInsanity · 05/05/2020 21:16

Yes. Same as @Lavenderpurple. I'm 9 weeks and am putting it down to tiredness as I always get cold when I'm tired. Interestingly I woke up in the middle of the night last night boiling hot and dripping with sweat! But this evening I'm cold.

AliSxo · 05/05/2020 21:19

Yep I also get spells of coldness even though my temp tonight was 36.9 xxx doesn't help I can't have a scorching hot bath xx

quarantinevibes · 05/05/2020 21:23

Not anymore but for the first 10 weeks I was freezing. I kept waking up in the night shaking I thought something was wrong. It’s gone now. Try and keep extra layers on and stay under a blanket when you can. Hopefully it will pass when you get to the second trimister xx

Woofwoofwooof · 05/05/2020 21:23

I had this, I was especially cold in the evenings. Worst bit was trying not to have my bath too hot whilst trying to warm up.

GrainneWail · 05/05/2020 21:23

I got was so cold when I was pregnant with dd. That was 11 years ago and I still haven't warmed up!

NickMyLipple · 05/05/2020 21:24

Have you had your iron checked?

Drbrowns · 05/05/2020 21:26

I was always cold In the first trimester in all my pregnancies.

Rockdown2020 · 05/05/2020 21:28

Me too in both pregnancies. Really, really cold.

emma911030 · 05/05/2020 21:29

After my first pregnancy I felt warmer all the time (previously I was cold all the time) I seem to have gone back to the really cold phase! Hot water bottle all the time just for warmth it's a joke! I hate being cold it makes me feel so uncomfortable:(

AndMyHairWillShineLikeTheSea · 05/05/2020 22:00

Probably anaemia. I always feel cold when my iron is low.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/05/2020 22:01

Aside from anemia, you also might want to have your thyroid checked.

SparklingLime · 05/05/2020 22:03

Also worth asking about getting your thyroid checked as super important in pregnancy.

babba2014 · 05/05/2020 22:03

I have this too and never had it in my other pregnancies.
Lots of people I've asked said it went away eventually but it's so random. New symptom for me.

SparklingLime · 05/05/2020 22:03

Crossed, @Aquamarine1029!

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 06/05/2020 15:43

Oh, I'm driving myself mad with it. I do also get quite warm at night. Right now I'm sitting here in a long sleeved top and a cardigan with blazing sun outside. I'm slightly too warm in the cardigan but the moment it comes off I'm too cold. ARGH.

I did have low iron towards the end of my last pregnancy, I suppose. I'm annoyed because I just talked to the midwife and forgot to mention it! I'll leave a message with them this afternoon.

FWIW I just gave them a ring and they've said that they're now taking all bloods at 12 weeks along with the 12 week scan. They said to start taking a pregnancy vitamin (had completely forgotten although I ham taking folic acid Blush) and to ask my midwife to add a thyroid test onto my bloods. I asked if I needed to worry in the meantime and they said no so I shall just wait and see, I suppose!
