Undercooked dinner - help!

My OH cooked me dinner tonight - frozen chips, onion rings, hash browns and chicken goujons. The chips were hard still, hash brown was a bit hard, chicken was warm but they weren't ones that are pink inside anyway. I'm freaking out a bit now that I've harmed the baby!!! I feel okay but still worrying. Any advice?

You won't get ill from some slightly undercooked frozen potato. Don't worry!

SleepingStandingUp · 05/05/2020 18:36

How much chicken did you eat? Tbh of its bad it'll make you vomit at most but won't hurt the baby.

The other stuff won't affect you but will taste rank

Does he cook often?

moveandmove · 05/05/2020 18:38

Why did you eat it! Confused

Elouera · 05/05/2020 18:39

Why didn't you just heat it further in the microwave if only just warm with hard chips? If the chicken wasn't pink, I'm sure its fine, but that is such a beige, high carb meal with very little fibre and no veg! (speaking as a pregnant women needing to eat lots of fibre!)

MuttsNutts · 05/05/2020 18:41

That sounds grim. Even cooked properly it would sound grim.

Why did you eat it fgs?

HolsF28 · 05/05/2020 18:42

I know it's a very bland dinner but as a one off meal cause we haven't got anything else on the house I'm sure it will be fine.
I felt bad to say anything and was starving!
Thanks for the positive advice given x

weird responses on here - OP you'll be fine. the potato stuff whilst unpleasant not harmful.

if the chicken wasnt pink then most likely was cooked. I do get the anxiety though, I was terrible when I was pregnant for it, used to worry about everything

SleepingStandingUp · 05/05/2020 18:43

Op does he cook OK normally? Was he just rushing?

HolsF28 · 05/05/2020 18:45

He doesn't cook often no! Haha but think it was a rushed dinner.
And for the comment about no veg in it - it's a one off dinner. We have tried to limit food shops and have run out, so thought that was better than going without anything!

Your an adult, about to be a mother. If someone gives you food that is still slightly frozen....speak up

Why feel bad saying anything? If he had cooked it long enough it would of been cooked, my 4 year old can time food with a timer.

No it won’t harm you!

PeanutDouglas · 05/05/2020 18:48

You haven’t harmed the baby. Tell your partner to learn to cook !!!

LH1987 · 05/05/2020 18:49

This dinner has inspired me, I think it sounds like an ideal meal if it were cooked correctly :) Just add some ketchup for veg.

Seriously though, you have nothing to worry about, if it wasn't pink I imagine it was precooked chicken.

HolsF28 · 05/05/2020 18:52

I know he's terrible haha. The one day I have a bath and leave him in charge. He's definitely sacked!
I had ketchup and a bit of broccoli, so very balanced!

No don't fall for it. Oh I can't cook, you do it. Oh I can't change nappies properly / bath the Bay / care for it alone etc
You do it all, you're so much better
I'll just sit here and watch you.

And yy to speak up. Oh dear dp this is still hard, so you think you ought to put it back in?

Gingernutlady · 05/05/2020 22:04

Hahaha oh you poor lass! We call those 'theres nothing left and cba' meals 'shit with sugar on'

I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine.

OneHanded · 05/05/2020 22:14

Chicken like that is precooked anyway.
