Hello all,

For some reason I’m getting anxious on what clothes I need to buy.

How many in each size shall I buy and what should I buy please?

Ie should I buy a few newborn and a few 0-3?

Any help would be fab! Thank you 😀

I always have bought some newborn as when born 0-3 will look huge. But newborn will get snug (or did for mine) by about a month in... so I tend to buy a couple nice babygrows newborn and the rest 0-3.

I always seem to forget but for this one I have got so far: (due start of July)
Newborn & 0-3 babygrows, footless and with feet.
Long sleeve vests for when newborn mainly.
Socks, mitts and hats - mainly for hospital and when cooler days/night time/in house
Cardigan - hospital
Short sleeve vests - if it's hot hot I'll just have baby in these from one month or so...
Short legged and short sleeved all in ones. Great if slightly cooler with a short sleeve vest on.
And a few cute outfits for those days out (if we get any)

I've got plenty of vests! I find these get the hit of leaky nappies before babygrows! Sometimes a babygrow survives and only a clean vest is needed... sometimes its 3 complete outfit changes a day! 😂

I just had my baby in December. She outgrew newborn size in two weeks.

I had 6 babygros and 6 vests in newborn size and that's all I needed.

I bought a lot more 0-3 and she never wore a lot of it, and certainly not more than once or twice. She was out of 0-3 by two months old.

In fact, she's 4 months old and already hovering between 3-6 and 6-9 on some brands!

It also means I have summer stuff that she'll never wear as if hasn't been hot enough for some dresses (and some I just can't be arsed to iron!) plus babygros are just so much easier!

I wish wish wish I'd not bought so much in sizes 0-3 and 3-6. (and in fairness, we received a LOT of gifts and second hand from family).

I wish I'd ordered what I needed as i needed it!

My point is not to stress! I'd just buy newborn for now and worse case scenario, you can buy everything you need at the supermarket during a food shop. Can't rate supermarket babygros enough. I love Aldi's babygros and vests (organic cotton, CHEAP! Pretty and wash well) and they've got a baby event on at the moment. I just ordered online from them and my parcel came within 3 days. Their baby sleeping bags are great too.

Also, same with toys and stuff like that. Won't need them for weeks and weeks so don't stress. I loved Ikea for platmat, gym, soft toys etc.

Caveat to say: unlike the pp I rarely needed to change my baby more than once a day. Thankfully poo explosions are rare here and she's not a very sicky baby.

In the new born size, for a January baby, we had one pack of short sleeved baby grows and one pack of sleep suits. On top of that we had quite a wardrobe in 0-3 months due to travelling a lot during pregnancy, and if we needed anything we’d take it from there.
He out grew new born clothes at about 2 months, and 0-3 at 3 months. And we’ve had 3 explosive nappies and maybe had to change his outfit 5 times when out. But i still recommend having a spare outfit with you at all times.

Following as I am due in late July and also wondering this.. no idea if I should be worrying more about baby overheating or getting too cold Confused

So far we have bought
7 babygrows/sleep suits
6 sleeveless body suits (is this what people mean by "vests"??)
3 short sleeved bodysuits
3 long sleeved body suits
(All newborn sized)
1 Cardigan in 0-3 months

No idea if this is right.. everyone says don't buy too much but I'm also worried about not having enough, especially as next day delivery is hard to come by these days plus loads of things are out of stock. We haven't been going to supermarkets and don't intend to unless the situation changes drastically..

@KnobwithaK to be honest I had my son last year and I’d got loads of clothes, we used them all a lot and he was hardly ever sick and so far is on maybe 5 explosive poos to date. But all his baby clothes were used a lot so I’ve never got the whole font but too much, it helped me connect to him whilst pregnant and after birth when SMP kicked in it massively helped that we had bought clothes for the whole year.
