Hi ladies since being pregnant I have been suffering with a really snuffly, blocked and bunged up nose which is now causing problems with my ears and I can't hear out of one which is very annoying so I was just wondering if you could use these whilst pregnant to help unblock sinuses etc.

I don't believe you can use decongestants. I've used sterimar saline spray to clear sinuses and that's worked well & pregnancy safe.

I've been using olbas oil in an oil mister and has been working pretty well for me. Oils are fine to use during pregnancy as long as they arent ingested

I've found the sterimar spray helpful which is just saline . Decongestant tablets or sprays aren't safe in pregnancy.

Nothing useful 😂 sorry to be a downer! You can use saline which helps a bit, but nothing like a proper decongestant. Both pregnancies I’ve had awful stuffy nose and this time a completely deaf and blocked ear for almost a month 😭😭 steaming over a bowl helps a bit! GPs and midwives both times have told me not to use vicks or olbas oil (or anything with juniper oil, eucalyptus oil, and oil of pine needles I think) as it isn’t safe.

I developed rhinitis in my first pregnancy 5 years ago and it never went away. 5 years of a stuffy nose and still going strong! Air con, heating Mac alcohol, lying down.. anything sets it off. Still no cure ☹️

Thanks ladies will try the spray then and keep everything crossed, not too bothered about the stuffy nose really it's the blocked ear that's getting on my nerves. Oh no @Amanduh I hope it doesn't come to that 😕

Poor you @Nov19 I'm hoping mine won't lead to that.

@Bellsx it didn’t help that I started using Sudafed blocked nose sprays. I think once you start using them you become quite reliant, so if possible steer clear in the hope it sorts itself out!
