I had GD in my last pregnancy. One of the factors could be weight (although I know a few woman who had healthy BMI who had GD).

I'm trying to lose weight for 1. My health and well-being and 2. To avoid GD in next pregnancy.

We are now considering another baby but I'm torn between trying now (then continue with the weight loss after pregnancy) or waiting until I lost some weight to avoid GD.

Did anyone else have GD in pregnancy but not in subsequent pregnancies?

If I know I'm going to get it regardless of weight then I'd rather have a baby sooner than later (after the CV has calmed down though). Just trying to have an uncomplicated pregnancy as possible.

My BMI before pregnancy was around 23/24 I think so not considered overweight and I have GD now so to be honest I’m not sure if the weight is a massive contributing factor always. Do t really know what caused mine although I was eating very badly and snacking all the time on sugary things so I suppose that didn’t help. General healthy eating and some exercise with the intention of losing a few pounds won’t harm you but I would just start trying now I think!
