Bladder twinges

Hey people. Just some reassurance really please? I'm 30 weeks and experiencing quite a bit of pain in my bladder. Almost feels like my bladder is stinging inside and shooting down to my vagina- that's the only way I can describe it. Need a wee a lot but not much comes out. I've had this but not as bad before and thought it would be a UTI but it wasn't - I've been tested several times for UTI's and it's always been clear so it's not that. also just a general ache and pulling in my stomach. What could it be ? Any advice please. First baby so all new to me xxx

Hi Grace , I’m pregnant with my first too but I’m a bit behind you at 23 weeks. I’ve had this for the last week and a half , rang my dr who asked for a sample. That came back negative for a uti and he said if it continues ring him again, so I did as it didn’t go and he’s sent my urine off for culture check as he said sometimes you can have a uti but it won’t show with a normal dip test. He said if it isn’t a uti it’s most likely baby pressing on the bladder. Nice eh ? 🤣 so I wouldn’t worry if you’re not bleeding or anything. Mines worse when I lie down on my side or walk , so uncomfortable! Xx

Im putting it down to the baby using my bladder as some kind of cushion as I also experience nuisance bladder symptoms. Some can be painful like it's just been kicked and other times I feel desperate for a pee only to produce a dribble! I don't have a uti so it must be the baby.

@GaaaaarlicBread @Delbelleber thankyou guys! And congrats on your pregnancies!! BiscuitIt may well just be baby pressing on bladder but it just hurts SadSad

It does hurt I really feel for you, my baby is also kicking down on my cervix and I’m in agony ! Can’t sleep I’m so tired! I hate the bladder feeling though, every time I go to wee there is this pressure and hardly any wee comes out !

@GaaaaarlicBread literally the same feeling!! Constantly feels like my bladder is stinging though! Bizzare

Google lightning crotch or fanny daggers- it May be that you are experiencing those!

grace1991 · 02/05/2020 21:35

@strawberry2017 I've just googled it and I don't think it's that! It's more inside my bladder than my fanny GrinGrin

Hi op, if you take a look at a picture of where your organs sit internally while you are pregnant, you'll see that the bladder is right under the baby's feet if they are head up, and beneath the head if they are head down. It takes a lot of abuse during pregnancy. It really felt to me like mine was being used as a punching bag, very painful at times, during both of my pregnancies. It was particularly bad if I needed the loo, or if the baby shifted position sometimes, and seemed to land on my bladder.

However, it may be worth having a quick chat with your midwife, the last thing you need right now is an undetected bladder infection. In the meantime keep drinking plenty of water and going to the loo (as if you have any choice on that one!). Also pelvic floor exercises, keep doing them, you will be glad you did later!

@katmarie thankyou so much! Yes it's excruciating right before I go for a wee! And it'd never a gradual feeling, suddenly I feel like I need to go and I gotta go!!!
Hopefully it is just the baby on my bladder and nothing worse xx
