Frequent faint spells

Hi all
I'm probably worrying over nothing but just wanted a little reassurance that this is normal in pregnancy:

I'm 20 weeks and over the last couple of weeks have been experiencing faint spells every few days. I'll be sitting down doing something random (nothing taxing) and suddenly I will feel extremely dizzy and drained and will sweat lots...usually I lie down straight away to stop myself actually fainting. I used to have fainting episodes as a child so I know when it's about to happen. I've been eating well and drinking lots of water.

Is this normal? Anyone else had similar experiences?

TIA

I've had similar. I had to plan my day a little different to avoid actually fainting, it's manageable. Like not taking as much to work with me so I had a lighter bag. Leaving home earlier so I could slowly walk to tram stop etc.

I would definitely mention it to midwife though, they will probs do a blood test just to check everything is OK. If anything comes up it would still probably be minor like needing to take iron or vitamin D tablets.

I am exactly the same, with history also. Tell your midwife just in case, but I did and my bloods were fine. Lie down with your legs raised when it happens, remember to put a cushion or something under your right hip, and eat/drink something sweet

I've also been experiencing this and it usually happens around the same time not everyday maybe 3 times a week and it has mainly been when I'm just sitting down but has happened a couple of times when I've been standing. Luckily I've been able to get to my bed and lie down when I do start feeling like it which I find helps and I'm also trying really hard to eat little and often and drink lots of water which is what the midwife said to do but she did also recommend having a blood test done to check my levels which I had on Friday so will ring on Monday to get my results.
