Potential placenta accerta?

Hi

I had my 20 week scan the other day and baba is looking great! However, when the sonographer checked the placenta to see how close it is to a scar site from previous c section, she said she wanted to call me back at 30 weeks to check it wasnt too close. She said it might effect how I give birth (vaginally or section) but wont effect baby. And that was that, no big drama. Of course, I've came out and googled this and I'm reading about placenta accerta which can essentially be life threatening and cause a massive haemorrhage at birth! Surely if she thought this was a realistic possibility she would have said to me? It sounds rare so I think my mind is run in away with me...after all, all she really said was she would like to see me again at 30 weeks to check placenta isnt close to scar. Does anyone have any experience of this? Is it routine if you've had previous section? Thanks x

Don't think it's routine because I've had 2 sections. I've heard the placenta can move though so probably why she wants to check it again at 30w. Would you be happy to have another section or were you wanting a vbac?
Google has been freaking me out after a recent scan also. Bad Google. We should just take the advice we get from the hospital and stop googling!

@Delbelleber, thanks for your reply. Yeah exactly that, she said it moves and just wants to check! Why oh why did I google!?!?

I wouldn't mind another section to be honest so that part doesn't bother me. It's the massive haemorrhage part that was freaking me out Shock

I'm assuming that would only happen if they weren't aware of the position of the placenta but they will keep a close on you now so try not to worry about it Smile

Hi, try not to worry, google is tricky.
But I understand. At my 20w scan I’ve been told that the placenta is really low and I’m back for a 32w scan just to check. Off course I panicked but came across with a scientific article saying that is not common and that placenta accerta is really rare. As my partner said, see from the bright side, the scan will be an extra opportunity to see you baby again.
