hi all, suffered quite badly with hyperemsis until about week 16 and lost about a stone. Things have improved but can still only eat very bland food and not enough. I take pregnacare and most of the time I can keep it down with some dry toast or really cold pineapple. Other times i just can't stomach it. Just pls tell me the baby will be ok. I'm terrified as there are so many nutrients I haven't gotten since before I got pregnant. Am 19 weeks now and scared that my baby will having some problems because I have definitely been malnourished. Also, is there anything i can do to make up for it for the second half of my pregnancy? things are slowly getting better but some days are better than others. is there something very nutritious but bland that you were able to stomach?

I also have HG and this is my second HG pregnancy. Honestly babies are parasites and will take what they need from you, it will be you that ends up deficient so if you can then try and get as many nutrients in as you can.

I assume you haven't had any severe imbalances in electrolytes etc show up on hospital blood tests when you have been admitted?

i don't remember the word electrolytes unless it's the same as ketones? on stemitil and fluids but was scared taking medication. Got through to now by sleeping a lot, very cold cola, toasted tortilla slices and finally feeling better, just worried

No ketones are what are in your urine when you are dehydrated. If you are feeling better now just eat as well as you can and honestly I wouldn't worry x

Wrt to pregnacare, I was sick roughly 10-15 times a day, nothing stayed down for more than an hour or two and both my DDs are perfectly healthy.

Baby will be fine. I had a dreadful time. Mine is now 13 and an absolute star who occasionally drives me nuts because she's so bright. Healthy from the get go. Fit. The whole thing. Babies are parasites as pp has said.

I have read on lots of threads that Pregnacare can make you feel alot worse so maybe switch to other vitamins to see if that helps. X

I'm 35 weeks now and still suffering from HG. I've been having growth scans every 3 weeks and baby is currently following it's own curve just under the 25th centile which they are happy with as long as its consistent. Try not to worry too much, baby will be getting what they need.

pandemicpreggie · 01/05/2020 12:39

Thank you. It's hard but I will try not to worry. At least I can do better. I could never take pregnacare after a main meal as my meals were always something like try toast or cold fruit. I took it at night with water and hopefully some of it got broken down in my system and baby is ok, but will look into switching. Good to hear some good stories.

Yes I could never take pregnacare as the iron in them made me feel more sick. I just took folic and vitamin d and they occasionally stayed down.

My doctor says the baby is growing and is all above average. I don't know how. I will stay positive and look at all the good things I can do now. I did hear about a vitamin spray so that might be easier
