Preterm Labour

Had anyone experienced preterm labour. I'm 28 weeks and was admitted to hospital a couple of days ago with contraction like cramps, my cervix was closed which was good. I was allowed home but told if it got worse again or babies movements reduced to call back. This morning I've got period like cramps and lower back ache and just don't feel right. The baby isn't moving really but its still early. I dont want to waste the hospitals time if its nothing. Has anyone else had this?

You’ll not be wasting anyone’s time.
Call now and go in.

I've had some orange juice and shes moving abit more now. I've never had a natural labour before as I was induced early with my first so I'm not sure if this is usual or something else

Phone up and get checked

Go in. Mine came at 32 weeks. It is not a waste of anyone’s time. The worst they will do is check you out and send you home again. Don’t leave it, even if you have a tiny niggle. It’s not worth it. Good luck 😊

Please go to hospital. They can give you steroids if you are in labour to help prepare the baby’s lungs.

Had to take some paracetamol and see if the pains ease at all, if not call back if I get worse. Has anyone had this before and its been nothing?

I had this at 31 weeks, I went in and they checked me for preterm labour. It was a ligament stretching and she came at 40+6 so was nothing but go in and get checked to be on the safe side, they don't see it as a waste of time. Better to be on the safe side!

Had an unsettled night with the pain in my lower back keep waking me, today I've had a few Strong pains in my lower tummy and a very heavy feeling too. Is this normal still, more like braxton hicks?

I had this previously and it turned out to be braxton hicks paired with a UTI. Hopefully it's something like that for you, but you do really need to go get this checked. They check to make sure you're not going to go into labour in the next two weeks while you're there. It's worth the piece of mind honestly. 💕

Yeah they did the test when I was in hospital earlier in the week and was negative and no sign of infection which is good. I'm just worried as still getting the lower back pain and period like cramps still

OP deffo deffo ring your hospital!

It may be absolutely nothing but if it’s preterm labour you need to act right away!

My waters broke at 25 weeks and I needed steroid injections to enhance my babies lungs. I’ve not gone into early labour yet but it could happen at any moment and it is incredibly important To get those steroids in before preterm labour!

You will also like need magnesium sulphate if you are in early labour to help baby’s brain development!

Also early labour is like a boulder rolling down a hill. You can do stuff to stop it before it properly starts but once things are moving you can’t stop them!

I don’t want to scare you because like the PP said it could be Braxton hicks but keeping your baby in there or acting quickly to give them the best chance if they come early is SO important in terms of preterm viability rates xx

They did the test when I was in earlier in the week and that was negative which is why I don't want to waste anyones time if this is all normal. With my first pregnancy I was induced early at 37 weeks and had an epidural so never felt what labour really was to if how I feel is normal or if it is potentially preterm labour taking abit longer. They check my cervix twice but not on the day that I was discharged

Seriously op, ring the hospital now. You are having pain and were told to contact them if that happened. Everyone on here is telling you to do the same.
I know you don't want to waste anyone's time, but you aren't, trust me. Stop dithering and call.
I know it nay seem harsh but you aren't doing the best for you or your baby right now. I know a person who lost her child because she didn't get checked and I also nearly lost mine child and my own life because I didn't want to be a bother.
Op, I know its scary but get checked, the test they did last week, was last week and things may have changed.

Oakley16 · 03/05/2020 09:44

I will call now. Thank you
