Evening all. I’m 7 weeks pregnant with my first baby. Unplanned but most welcome! My fiancé and I have finally got over the initial shock.

I haven’t got anyone to speak to as haven’t told anyone yet. It doesn’t feel right to tell anyone when we can’t hug, but I do feel quite alone in this.

So far I don’t want to eat anything, the only things I can stomach is really plain foods like plain pasta, tinned potatoes, plain toast etc. As i write this I’ve been trying to eat a portion of pesto pasta for an hour. Is this normal this early on in pregnancy?

I also feel like I’ve been hit by a train but assuming that’s normal.

And I’ve had an upset stomach for around 10 days, can’t find much online about this, did anyone else suffer? It’s not great when I’m struggling to eat but going to the loo multiple times a day.

Does anyone have any advice? I’ve got my first doctors appointment on 13th May!

Thank you for having me💜

Hey lovely!
I found out on Wednesday we are expecting. Our first baby. 6 weeks today.

Feeling like you, I can really relate to the train comment and the stomach one!

Having rather bad nausea myself but I found last nights fizzy stuff has helped settle mine.

Oooo I think I'll have pesto pasta now you've mentioned it 😋😋

Rough DD at the mo calculated at Christmas Day 😳😂

Keeping everything crossed 🤞

Hello! I really empathise with how you are feeling! Sounds completely normal and exactly how I was feeling at that time! Week 7 and 8 turned out to be my worst in fact. The only advice I can offer is not to worry about eating whole 'meals' at 'normal' mealtimes but just what you can little and often. Totally with you on the plain foods. I also found breakfast cereal a real go to, which is something I didn't normally eat! Oh and melon went down well. I'm 14 weeks now and I've more or less got my appetite fully back now, though at the time I felt like it would go on for ever and ever.

I also had an upset stomach early on, but for me turned out to be caused by the vitamins I was taking... I changed brands and it stopped.

It can be bloody tough going through this in these strange times and can feel really odd not telling people face to face. I know everyone's different but I've ended up telling most people over the phone/video etc and it's actually been really nice. Is there anyone you're close with who you feel you could tell and chat to about it?

@Elmlee. Congratulations! Glad someone can relate to the stomach ache, it’s something I haven’t been able to find much about online. Ohh a Christmas Baby! I think ours is due the week before but won’t know until I have the dating scan!

@Cheeseoncheese Thank you! I’m so glad you were feeling the same and it’s quite normal. Pregnancy is very obviously new to me and as we were planning this I feel really unprepared. I never thought you’d struggle this much so early on, actually glad I’m not working at the moment as I don’t think I could if I tried. I just want to sleep all the time and feel so lazy for it!

I’m glad to hear you’ve got your appetite back, seems like there’s hope for me. I can’t wait to start eating again. I’m finding it strange what foods I want, yesterday I felt like I could eat green beans with salt and today I want one of the Mexican rice microwave sachets haha!!

It’s really difficult not having people to talk to. With this being the first grandchild on both mine and my fiancé’s sides it’s kind of a big deal and I want us to all be able to celebrate properly. So difficult isn’t it!

Hello, grateful for this thread! I’m 6/7 weeks and first time pregnancy, haven’t really had any symptoms other than sore boobs, but today just feel like I’ve hit a wall and could sleep for days! I do think it’s making it easier not seeing anyone at the moment as not so obvious when I’d have to make excuses for not drinking for example! But have told myself that I’m not going to tell anyone until I’ve had a private scan at 8 weeks, mainly because with out any symptoms I just feel like it’s actually all in my head that I’m pregnant despite quite a few BFP’s! Also won’t let me OH talk about the possibility of a baby until then - it’s a bean at best for now! How people hide this and keep it a secret for so long in normal times is beyond me!

Rose559 · 01/05/2020 20:59

@cottage12. Congratulations! I’m the same with not believing it’s actually true! I’m taking a pregnancy test every week to make sure it still says positive. I haven’t looked into the option of an early scan but have my first appointment on May 13th at nearly 9 weeks so I suppose I’ll book in for my first scan then. At the moment I don’t want to tell anyone until we can hug and celebrate properly but I don’t know how long this is going to go on for. Trust me, I have slept for days! I woke at 11am this morning to only fall back asleep at 5pm and wake at 8:30pm and still could go back to sleep!!!

@Rose559 im about 6 weeks pregnant now with my first and can totally relate!

at first i didn't notice any symptoms apart from sore boobs and started to panic if everything was ok, and then slowly but surely i started to feel a dull nauseated feeling the whole day. it pretty much lasts from when i get up in the morning and calms down after dinner.

i've just been eating what i can, smaller portions, lots of hot lemon ginger water, and lots of lying down with my head elevated.

i just hope it gets better soon before i get back to work as it will be hard to hide!
