dark THIN blue line positive test result?

I’ve got a very dark blue line on my pregnancy test this morning but it’s very thin with the rest faint. I had a one day heavy period 3 days ago so didn’t think I was pregnant ( also we only did the deed once this month as decided to stop trying during the pandemic) but thought I’d check as I’ve never had a one day period. Any advice on this? Can’t figure out how to send an image

I don’t have any advice. I just know that I’d be having a look at how that first response dried.

sel2223 · 03/05/2020 09:09

If it dried with a line I think the OP(original post/poster)might still be in with a chance. If it dried blank she still might be in with a chance as false negatives are extremely common before AF is due.

So either way, still a chance then? Sounds like you're suggesting a retest to me @justanotherneighinparadise

OP, FWIW, I kind of agree as false negatives are more common than false positives. If you think there's a chance you are pregnant, wait a day or 2 and retest x

I can't link to it sel but search mumsnet for them myth of evap lines'. Those are chemical pregnancies which fail, but you had conceived when you took the test.

sel2223 · 03/05/2020 10:41

No doubt there are plenty theories on it but I've definitely had over saturated lines and evap lines and I've seen them on other threads on here.

Rain1 · 03/05/2020 10:46

Colourless indentations yes, but a coloured line can only be produced in the presence of HCG.

Rain1 · 03/05/2020 10:53

Unless you're taking certain medications, there are no false positive results. If you go on to bleed and have a subsequent negative test it just means it was a very early loss.

Cherrytangfastic · 03/05/2020 11:09

I had a blue line like that on a Tesco test a few years ago. Very quickly had a blood test at the doctors (I had an implant in) and it was all negative.

Tesco tests seem to be notorious for those thin blue lines. It's cruel Sad

Cherrytangfastic · 03/05/2020 11:10

I was very 'any colour is HCG' until it happened here!

sel2223 · 03/05/2020 11:23

@Cherrytangfastic I had a similar experience. I got a coloured line then less than an hour later got a BFN and continued to get BFN's after that (I wasn't pregnant). A chemical doesn't last an hour.

False positives are rare but they do happen and some brands are more notorious for it than others unfortunately.
Evap lines also happen.....sometimes when you follow the instructions exactly but more often than not when you return to a test hours later.

I stick to pink dye tests now and only look within the time frame.

Lozz22 · 03/05/2020 11:41

To be honest I don't think that's an evaporation line. I've just pulled it against the pregnancy checker app and the whole line looks blue not grey. I've put a white circle around mine so not to confuse but here we go.

@Lozz22 I don't think the original test is an evap line either. The evap conversation came about when discussing whether to go back and get the second 'negative' test out the bin to see of anything had appeared after the time.

The first one looked positive to me but could have been a faulty test. Personally, I would retest if I was the OP.

Lozz22 · 03/05/2020 12:19

Just thought, didn’t you get 2 tests in the Tesco’s ones? I’m sure mine had 2 inside them.

Wil07392430 · 03/05/2020 15:55

Nah only had one Tescos test Left. Will test again in a few days but would have thought it would have shown up on a first response. Will chalk it up to not meant to be as like I said in my first post I had had a one day heavy period so possibly was and now not. Thanks for the help ladies xx

Mmm yeah maybe. The one I posted which looked like yours was taken maybe around 6-7 weeks. I miscarried at 9 weeks but every other test right up until 2 days before my scan were ultra positive. The strip ones at first were pretty faint but got stronger day by day. I was a week late when I took the first one and that was a really prominent second line. Not a Tesco's one though it was just an el cheapie from savers. Did that and didn't believe it was right so did a couple of strip ones from the same brand the next morning and 2 first responses that afternoon. A few people wondered if I was Pregnant with twins. I was massive at 9 weeks and it took 5 weeks to miscarry although on my reassurance scan there was only one sac and one Baby.

Unknownteenager123 · 12/02/2021 02:39

Hi, um I have no where else to go about this. I took a pregnancy test one was negative, and the other one had a thin blue line that looked positive. Too blue to be an evap line? I’m not sure how to post a picture...can somebody help

BananaCustard85 · 12/02/2021 14:14

@unknownteenager123 hey there. For some reason you can't post a photo until you've been a member for 48hrs.

What were the brands of the tests you were using? And is your period late?

If you haven't already done so, I'd get hold of some more tests and try again.

BananaCustard85 · 12/02/2021 14:14

P.s for future reference it's best to start your own thread rather than posting on an old one as I think you will get more replies that way 🙂

Bubblesblue26 · 25/04/2021 00:26

Did you find out if you was pregnant in the end

Prettyitalian22 · 04/05/2021 00:44

Um , I took a clear blue test and it showed 2 line but was a thin blue line , is it a positive or negative

Chitaufree · 04/05/2021 00:57

@Prettyitalian22 if you don’t know, how are we meant to know? Hmm

Marie1551 · 10/07/2021 20:30

Is this an evap line or positive line

Momof2under6 · 17/08/2021 03:06

I wanted to go one here and create a post because I’ve poured over these messages for days on end searching for the answers that only my physician could provide. My heart goes out to all the expectant and want-to-be-expectant mothers out there, I pray you may experience the tumultuous joy that is motherhood. After a faint positive and a heavy bleed on day 28 of a typically 25 day cycle I still dealt with all of the pregnancy symptoms I was so used to. My last pregnancy was unplanned, occurred on the mini pill and resulted in an early miscarriage so this time around I was hopeful for a (yet unexpected) rainbow baby. It was not meant to be. I knew in my heart that the pink dye tests were more reliable but I stuck with the blue dye hoping I would still obtain a positive result. I am posting a picture of my tests (taken a day apart) so that hopefully anyone else who has the same result does not become as hopeful and inevitably as disappointed as I was. If at all possible, stay away from clear blue.
God bless and good luck, my heart is with you in this moment.

I took 3 days ago and it was negative and today I took the last test and looks positive

bysanchmama · 23/11/2021 06:58

Hey OP, I'm curious what ever happened after taking this test. I took one a few days ago and had the same thing 3 tests in a row. First with a pink dye then twice with blue dye. I've taken a few more pink dyes since then and they're completely neg. 🤷‍♀️
