MATB1 form

Hi, first time mum here . I don’t see my midwife again until I’m 24 weeks and 6 days pregnant (currently 22 weeks 5 days) where I will get my MATB1 form. I work for the NHS and my line managers know I'm pregnant and I’m currently off due to social distancing as high risk pregnancy, but I’m worried that due to the current climate they might not get to see my paperwork until after the 25 week mark even if I do run it to them straight after my appointment where I will still be under 25 weeks. Am I stuffed for maternity pay now or has anyone ever got around this? I know the guidelines are it must be handed in no later than 25 weeks so does that give me a bit of flexi time til at least 22nd May when I’ll be 25 weeks 6 days ?
I did try to get it sooner and they said no as I was under 20 weeks at the time.
Thanks

I don't understand the problem. Just had a google and it said...

You must give your employer your MATB1 form at least 28 days before you wish to start your pay.

So you have plenty of time!

You only need to notify your employer by 25 weeks not providing the matb1 form. See attached. Looks like the matb1 needs to be provided 3 weeks before SMP starts.
I'm now going to get mine at my 28 week appointment and will send off once I have it.

I’m 20 weeks on Saturday and I work in a school. My head has said it’s fine for me to scan my form and send it via email. Or I could post it to her.

@GaaaaarlicBread it's because some sources incorrectly state you need to provide matb1 by 25 weeks, including the first one that pops out when you Google it! Unfortunately the top search source is not the government one which is correct, but dune forum with incorrect data. I have seen loads of people quoting mother and baby forum and their wrong intel.

@monalisadoesntsmile thank you, that’s made me feel less silly ! X

"I did try to get it sooner and they said no as I was under 20 weeks at the time."

So it's been more than 20 weeks now, why not call the midwife and ask? Could they post it to you?

I was given mine after my 20 week scan, they did a quick check up (blood pressure and urine), gave me the whooping cough vaccine and also gave me my MATB1 form. Efficient Grin
