I’m a first timer and having held myself back from getting to grips with anything other than nhs website basics around pregnancy for fears about 12 week scan I’ve just passed that milestone and as the type of person who likes to be super informed and I’m now on the look out for info - can anyone recommend any good books/guides about pregnancy/birth? Looking for something quite factual and no nonsense! Had a look on amazon but don’t know where to start- there seems so much to choose from! My husband also very sweetly wants to read up on things from a his perspective if anyone has any recommendations for him too!
disclaimer I am very aware that being pregnant and pushing out a baby and being a mum cannot be learned from a book but it’s worth a try as I am beyond clueless and terrified 😂

I've been really enjoying Give Birth Like a Feminist by Milli Hill.
I read a few of the more popular ones, like that how to grow a baby and push it out but I found it quite basic and it didn't answer all my questions. That Milli Hill one is really useful though

What to Expect is quite straightforward. I really liked the "first year" one more than the pregnancy one.

I've been reading the modern midwifes book which is a real comfort to first time mums and very reassuring!

I hated “what to expect” I found it a bit over the top and anxiety inducing to be honest. I would definitely recommend “expecting better” by Emily Oster.

I agree about what to expect, I found it very textbook like!
