Does anyone know? They look the same to me.

look on johnlewis.com - they sell them and can tell you about the features, etc

OK, the Frog was the original Bugaboo but has now been discontinued and replaced by the Cameleon and Gecko.

The Cameleon is v similar to the Frog but has a few extra features; telescopic handle, adjustable suspension on the small wheels, a larger storage basket underneath, a slightly larger seat/carrycot frame and a vast choice of interchangable colour options.

The Gecko is simplified version of the Frog.
Is is the same in principle but some features have been removed in order to make the whole thing as lightweight as possible. Standard non adjustable suspension on the small wheels (still v good), a slightly different seat angle adjuster, no carry handle/bumper bar and there are only three colours to choose from.

The idea is that the Cameleon has all the bells and whistles for those who love extras and gadgets and the Gecko is for those who just want pared down, easy to use simplicity.

They both share many of the same features eg they fold in the same way, raincovers, car seat attachment clips so its just a matter of what suits your lifestyle better.

I believe:

Frog was the original

Gecko is smaller than frog (there my knowledge ends)

Cham seat is very slightly larger than frog seat and you can have the interchangable covers on it (but you can get them made for the frog to order from poshbugs on ebay anyway) The Cham front wheels have slightly better suspension than the frog front wheels (again these are interchangable so you could upgrade if and when you needed to replace). The Cham has an adjustable height handle but dp manages frog fine and he's 6'3" and I manage it fine and I'm 5' and I've used a buggyboard with it. Brake on the cam and frog in different places - further away from fiddling fingers of toddler on the frog.

That is it as far as I know!

Aunt fi is selling her black frog - 2nd hand is a fantastic way to go IMO, it will hold it's value well if you decide in the future it's not right for you and less initial outlay anyway.

Oh right, thanks everybody, v helpful. I wont be needing a pram for a long time yet,but Im one of these people that likes to have everything prepared in my head, then I dont panic. So, if I live in a small town, and use the car more than any walking, am 5 foot 5(so doubt any moving handlebars is necessary) which one would be better for me,do you think? Im getting confused because theres alot of nice prams out at the minute. The iCandy ones are very nice too. Oh, its a minefield.

Spoke to someone with a year old icandy the other day one of the wheels keeps falling off & the handlebar keeps coming out too!!! You sound like my sort of lifestyle, I have had lots of puschairs etc a bugaboo is the best ever for comfort, ease of pushing etc so I'd def recommend it!

MrsMcJnr · 17/09/2007 13:54

Mumzyof2 - I'm 5ft5, DH is 6ft and other family members (ie Grannies etc) range from 5ft to 6ft4 so if I can, I'm going to get a buggy with extendable handlebars!

ScottishMummy · 17/09/2007 15:44

cameleon is bigger seat unit than gecko also
adjustable handle bar
bigger under seat bag
can change fabrics colours
both up to age 4ish
www.bugaboo.com/go to comparison table

Well iv just been to a baby shop, where they had a gecko and a chameleon on show, and the lady did a fabulous demonstration of the chameleon and what it does. We dismissed the gecko because it really is a lot smaller than the chameleon, and its made of canvas, has no fleece on it, the mattress isnt suitable for overnight sleeping a its just foam, whereas the chameleon is suitable for overnight, and much beteer quality, and the gecko just doesnt look quite as good. BUT she said bugaboo put their prices up at the start of september, and this one was 625 pounds. But we really have got our herts set on one. It is a ridiculous amount of money, but im someone that saves money most of the time so that i can spend on things like this. She didnt have any icandy's as i would liked to have looked at them. But, iv made up my mind now.

Yeah! a decision well done! I think we'll look at the Icandies at the weekend and then make ours but I have a feeling that I know what it will be
