Hello everyone, as it says on the subject I’m 18 weeks and I was feeling slight flutters of baby movements for a good 3 days and noticed last night I hadn’t felt anything all day. So jumped in a nice warm bath, normally gets baby moving and still nothing. Should I be worried or could it just be that baby has moved up a little ?my bump seams to have just grown quite a bit too ?awaiting scan but it’s still another 2 weeks away. Thanks in advance x

I think at this point it's too early for consistent movement. I'm 19 weeks and usually I can feel baby a few times during the day, but often nothing for long stretches of time - hours and hours. I mostly feel it when I have one leg crossed over the other and leaning forward - must be squashing babe!

If you're really concerned though it doesn't hurt to give your midwife a ring. You may have an anterior placenta which means you can't feel baby as well due to where the placenta is.

I had exactly the same thing in my previous pregnancy. Flutters at 18 weeks and then I think nothing for quite a while. I did have anterior placenta as well. I wouldn't worry too much as the baby still has lots of room to move around at 18 weeks and has probably just changed position. A few weeks down the line the baby will be big enough that the placenta position won't stop you feeling movements.

Mind you, I was a massive worrier during that pregnancy (bit harder in this one with a toddler to wrangle!) and I probably would have phoned the midwives for a sanity check so if you are uneasy don't suffer in silence Grin

It's still very early days, at that stage I wasn't feeling movements every day. The baby is still small enough that if they change position or move to a different spot, you might not be able to feel the movements.

Still very early! I'm 20+2 and had my scan yesterday. Baby was literally doing flips for the entire 45 minutes, really really active and I only felt baby once!

As everyone said, it's still very early days to feel consistent movement. Most women don't establish a pattern until about 28 weeks.

I didn't feel a thing until I was over 22 weeks and even now at 25 weeks it varies massively from day to day.

It's too early to count movements at the moment as if the baby has now turned around and is kicking your back you wouldn't feel then as they're too little. There's a certain number of weeks where after that you need to count the kicks but at 18 weeks the baby is so tiny you can go for long periods without feeling them and that's normal. You can tend to feel them more after eating something sugary so you could try that but again even if you didn't feel them I wouldn't worry about it xx

I’m the same I felt a few flutters and now haven’t had anything for about 6 days. I’m also worried but trying to convince myself it’s too early for consistent movements. My scan is in 2 weeks so il have to wait and see. Try not to worry xx

Thanks so much ladies, you’ve all eased my mind. Got some sugary sweets to eat tonight so we shall see if that works if not I won’t worry too much if not xxx
