It’s 3:30am and I’m watching a film on Amazon (The Big Sick, Incase you’re interested!)

I’ve been awake ages and just turning over and over in bed. I cannot switch off! I am achy and have heartburn etc, but I just can’t switch my mind off. I’m not sure exactly what I am even thinking of!

I get to sleep ok listening to a sleep stories app, this doesn’t seem to work during the night.

Just frustrated as so tired during the day and trying to home school etc

Anyone else?

Well I'm only 25 weeks and I'm awake all night - then at 4 am usually give up and come down to the sofa!
I sleep on my back usually so trying to sleep on my sides is just really not natural to me, it hurts my hips.
I'm lucky I have nothing to do in the day at the moment, usually I have a physically demanding job, not that I can sleep in the day either Hmm hope you start getting some better nights sleep.

This baby better be cute.

lauryloo · 30/04/2020 04:54

Yes, for the past few weeks

Although I'm awake tonight as I just had my baby this evening and cannot sleep!

@lauryloo 👶🏼 Oh massive congratulations!! Hope you’re feeling ok.

Is it your first? Are you in hospital or home?! :)

@Thekindyoufindinasecondhand hmm yes these babies are worth it but still... I have this hope that actually I get more sleep when it’s born!! I maybe right. But my other 2 DD are 8 and 10 so newborn memories are old.

The achy hips are horrible

36+5 here and wide awake as usual! Haven’t slept properly for weeks now. Baby keeps pushing down on bladder tonight which is painful. Have a 4 year old too so permanently tired! Only a few weeks to go!

Thekindyoufindinasecondhand · 30/04/2020 05:08

@flissity my friends keep knowingly saying 'oh you just wait till the baby comes if you think you aren't sleeping now' but at least then I'd be looking after the little human and not just staring at the ceiling at 4am! At 10yo I'm sure you can get your eldest DD to do a few nights with the baby then surely Wink let mum rest!

flissity · 30/04/2020 05:33

I honestly think I would rather be awake for a reason (feeding a baby) than awake for no bloody reason!!!
It’s a different kind of tired then. Yes it can be complete exhaustion But for me nothing worse than not being able to actually get to sleep.

Tonight (although now it’s the morning) has dragged beyond belief.

@Emmacb82 we have roughly same time left then. The nighttime toilet trips are constant. I feel your pain. And a 4yr old to entertain too, that’s hard work 😓

I am only 13 weeks, but insomnia is slowly destroying me. Just cannot get to sleep! Another zombie day ahead. What a joy.

devilishdemento · 01/05/2020 17:14

Yep, same here. Been struggling to sleep since 32 weeks (now 35+2) because I'm always so bloody hot at night (even with no clothes on, no covers on and a fan directed straight toward me). I usually go to bed at reasonable hour, toss and turn for 2 hours before giving up and trying to find something to do to tire me out like reading. Then I usually fall asleep on the sofa at around 2am, wake up anywhere between 4-7am and maybe get a couple more hours if I go back to bed.

I'm also one of those people who finds it impossible to have a nap in the daytime, no matter how tired I am. Guess we'll be prepared for lack of sleep when baby is here, eh?

flissity · 02/05/2020 06:16

@Mc3209 I think you have to hope you’ll go through stages of more sleep at some point!! No one could handle a full 9 months of bad sleep ...

@devilishdemento that sounds really crap. I’ve just been up since 4, but actually I did have a reasonable sleep last night.
I never know whether it’s better to go to bed later (so more tired) or early (as so shattered)

If I daytime nap, there is way less chance of me getting to sleep at night. But then sometimes just so tired I want one!

I had a successful ECV yesterday. Turned baby from breech to head down, so perhaps I was anxious about that?

We are on the home stretch don’t forget :)
