Today I’ve noticed I’m getting mild period like aches in my lower stomach. All throughout this pregnancy since 6 weeks I’ve had a heavy feeling on and off and in my lower back had numerous scans and baby is fine. My last scan was 11 days ago and now I’m itching for another one 😄. I’m not bleeding or anything so I know I probably shouldn’t be worrying but my morning sickness has really eased off the last few days I just need to go for a wee more my appetite has increased and my breasts are bigger and sore now. The aches are worrying me today though, I’ve had (sorry tmi) bad wind the last few days though. Today I’m getting like a feeling of muscle spasms in my stomach too it’s a really weird feeling. This is my first so I get anxious easily.

I was told it was normal to get these sorts of aches and pains, as your uterus is stretching and growing all the time.
It's normal for morning sickness to ease off at this point in your pregnancy, equally it's normal to have bigger sore breasts, and need to wee more. If your appetite was affected by the morning sickness then its no wonder its returning now you're feeling less sick.
It's my first too. I'm usually a massive worrier, but I'm sticking to the "unless you're bleeding or experience severe pains, then don't worry".

I think that sounds like ligaments stretching and growing pains too, I've had that on and off as well as the odd bit of trapped wind that was surprisingly painful!

AlviesMam · 29/04/2020 15:55

Wind can feel abit like period pains x

PippinStar · 29/04/2020 16:02

That all sounds really normal ... and the morning sickness usually eases a lot at 14 weeks for most people. FWIW, I'm almost 20 weeks and curled up in bed with period-type pains - they are normal throughout as long as not severe and accompanied by bleeding.

I could have written this post about an hour ago! Went off googling it instead! I’m 14+3, also had a scan just under 2 weeks ago. I did have some brown spotting this afternoon too but I have a SCH and I’ve had this on and off for 5 days now, the Doctor at the early pregnancy unit was a complete cow on the phone yesterday so I’m just trying to not worry too much x

AlviesMam · 29/04/2020 17:40

@DobbieFreeElf I'm 13 weeks and had some brown spotting a week ago. EPU told me to just ignore it and now I'm back to my normal CV. We're u worried about your brown spotting? It unsettled me :(

AlviesMam · 29/04/2020 17:40

@AlviesMam I’ve known I have a SCH since I was 7 weeks, this is an IVF pregnancy and they’re more common in those. I have had a few episodes of brown spotting/ bleeding and yes, every time I have been sure it was bad news. This last one started on Thursday and by Sunday I called for some advice. Like I say the woman was a complete cow when I talked to her on Monday and talked down to me and offered no real reassurance. Yesterday I called the GP who was lovely and said she would ask that a consultant at the EPU would call me back and it was the same bloody woman, she was even worse than the day before. Yesterday I came off the phone in tears. The spotting has been worse today but I don’t feel like I can call anyone. I’ve just had to reassure myself that it’s brown, apart from the slight period like feeling I haven’t had any huge cramping and everything was fine on the 12 week scan... really hard to not get stressed about it though.

I did wonder if my usual period would be around now which might be the reason...??

maa1992 · 29/04/2020 17:59

I had these right through to 17 weeks, was told it's my uterus stretching xx

MummyGoingItAlone · 29/04/2020 18:01

Ligament pain can be really painful I found. Some days I could hardly move. They don’t tell you how uncomfortable and painful early pregnancy can be sometime! Nice warm bath used to help me

AlviesMam · 29/04/2020 18:02

@DobbieFreeElf oh noway I hate it when you get rude people it makes you feel like your being a nuisance! I phoned my midwife the other day but got through to another one and she wasn't very nice either, her attitude was awful.
my brown spotting was two hours after my 12 week scan. EPU said to ignore it and it could have been the pressure from the probe. I don't have a SCH but I know a lot of people get bleeding and spotting with this so try not to worry and keep ringing if you want reassurance, do you have an assigned midwife you can speak to xx

Wotsits4357542 · 30/04/2020 16:28

@DobbieFreeElf have you still got the aches today?
Mine seemed to ease off this morning now this afternoon it’s come back, I thought the sickness had eased but I threw up this morning after opening the fridge (can’t stand the smell even though it’s clean)
I’m still worrying even though all your replies have been reassuring so Thankyou for that xx
I also woke up last night to really bad heartburn 😬.

@Wotsits4357542 I was just checking back here as mine had eased and now seem to have started up again but if I really poke around I think it’s more low down/ in my hip 🤷🏻‍♀️ (& I only had very very light spotting yesterday, whilst I was out for a walk.)

@AlviesMam sorry I missed your question, I do have a midwife (she was also my mw 4 years ago with my first) but she’s really rubbish at responding to messages and I thought the EPU/ GP would be more helpful to speak directly to rather than an unanswered text 🤦🏻‍♀️

If I’m honest this cramping has got me really anxious and I’m on knicker watch all the time again, even though I had felt a bit more reassured after my 12 week scan 😕
