Is it possible for a baby/child to look identical to just one parent and have no physical traits whatsoever of the other parent? I swear my 10 month old looks absolutely nothing me he is literally a clone of dh which his family love to point out at every opportunity. Would love to see just alittle of me in him!

Babies always look like their fathers, its an evolutionary thing so father's recognise them self in the baby and don't reject them.

Yes, or I hope so.
DS looks nothing like me and dh, he looks like a combination of my brother and one of my cousins (apparently my dad's sides genes are strong) he did look a lot like DH until he was about 8 months.
DD is the same she looks like SIL, with again my dad's eye shape and lips. She's never looked anything like me.

DD is 3 DS is also 10 months, so plenty of time for them to look like us 😂

I think they change over time as well, my daughter looked like her dad and hardly like me at all when first born but now at 3 looks almost the spitting image of me. It's an interesting theory a poster put at the top about the dads recognising them and accept them Confused xx

My daughter looks like both of us, but she has my colouring which is quite unusual and so everyone's first reaction is to go on and on about how she is the spit of me and doesn't look like her father at all!

My DS apparently looks like his dad, I can't see it at all. I sent a photo to a friend I haven't seen for ages of him and she got back to say he looks like me! He does look exactly like his female cousin did at this stage though, despite him being a very boyish looking boy and DN being a very girly looking girl. In conclusion, who knows, genetics are weird. Confused

It definitely changes over time so I wouldn’t worry too much !

My niece looked just like my sister up until she was about 6 or 7. She went through puberty and it’s so bizarre but her entire face shape changed and now she’s a complete clone of her father . She looks nothing like my sister .

And even with myself I changed a lot from baby to child to teenager to adult . I’ve gone back and forth looking like each parent .

I've heard that theory about baby's looking like dad too and I think there's probably some truth in it as every baby I've met looks just like daddy!

Their features do change over time though so I'm sure she'll get a bit of you as she grows.

My niece was the double of her dad until she was about 3, now she's 5 and a mini me of my sister (her mother).

Graphista · 29/04/2020 21:07

Yes, 3 of my exes dc look the spit of him with no hint of their mothers in there (except in my daughters case she has my sarcasm Grin)

Genes are funny things, I don’t look like either of my parents...but I’m the spit of one of my grans!

My sister looks like an aunt.

Jesskir89 · 29/04/2020 23:14

My almost 7 week old is the spit if dh and only has my ears! Interesting theory about the evolution thing!

kkr168 · 29/04/2020 23:51

My son who is now 16 is my double, so everyone likes to point out & my husband is the double of his mum.
My husband has 2 other children from a previous relationship, they also look nothing like him. I just think people either have strong or weak genes!
