Morning Sickness hell!

Is anyone else in morning sickness/all day sickness hell?! I didn't realise how bad it is - every time I think of food I want to vomit, every smell makes me sick, every time I move I feel nauseous, dry retching when I wake up, I hardly eat anything and when I do I have to just close my eyes and chew fast and try v hard to keep it down. I'm almost 7 weeks. Please tell me there are others feeling the same?! Envy

@SingingSands that really is the best way to describe it!

I was hit with nausea last week, dead on 7 weeks. I've only actually been sick a handful of times but the all day and night nausea is so draining.

Has anyone tried sickness bands? I got mine yesterday but they don't seem to be helping 😭

danidella · 13/05/2020 15:32

Ive been feeling nauseas since week 5 and now at week 9. I haven't been vomiting (yet) and Im eating normally. I usually drink strong coffee (obviously decaf now) but I'm now having it weak and going off it. Its cosmetic smells that make me feel ill. But it will all be worth it in the end.

Is anyone else feeling completely drained by 24/7 nausea? 😞 I'm at the stage where I'm dreading the thought of weeks and weeks more of this! My sickness seems to be more frequent (still only once a day, but everyday now) but I don't know whether to speak to my gp?

kidsareok · 14/05/2020 14:41

I'm really struggling too - I'm almost 9 weeks and it was bad for me week 6, week 7 calmed a bit then week 8 came back with a vengeance. I'm at work today (as I'm a teacher on a rota) but I don't want to tell them I'm pregnant as I'm on a temporary contract and I know they'll find an excuse not to extend it if they find out (illegal but technically my contract comes to an end so they don't have to renew 🤷🏼‍♀️). I know I shouldn't even be at work if I'm pregnant due to government guidelines but what do I do?! Plus looking after kids is awful feeling like this - just can't wait for this bit to end. I dread bedtime as I am just so sick, any time after 5pm for me is awful. I cried so much at 3am the other day - my OH didn't know what to do! I can generally keep Tony bits of food and water down in the morning and early afternoon but It's so tough x

@kidsareok oh gosh, thats such a tricky situation. You're right that they shouldn't use that as a reason but totally understand your worry! I imagine it's so hard being at work and feeling so terrible, I'm wfh and that's bad enough. If I was in the office I would have had to tell them by now because I keep being sick mid-morning. My worst times are definitely morning and evening, I think it feels better during the day as I can nibble. Have you tried sickness bands? I've been wearing them a few days now but they don't seem to do a thing 😫 I'm with you in the crying, I just burst into tears wondering how I'm going to do this if the sickness carries on to week 20 (or beyond!)

Superscientist · 14/05/2020 15:02

My sickness returned last week at 25 weeks. I'm wfh so I can have a lie down when I need but otherwise feeling pretty rotten and sorry for myself.

Jasminex1 · 15/05/2020 10:33

@Superscientist poor you that must be awful! I hope that when mine eventually disappears 🤞🏼 it will be for good!

Superscientist · 15/05/2020 11:23

It's been on and off throughout. It was worst from 5 weeks to about 10 weeks. It reappeared for weeks 14 and 22 but not bad. Then started again last week and is getting worse :( I have some anti nausea meds from my first trimester which I can take when it's particularly bad.

I hope when it goes for you it stays away!

Jasminex1 · 15/05/2020 11:30

@Superscientist how bad did it make you feel the first time? I honestly feel drained and nauseous 24/7 but I'm only being sick max once a day - I don't know whether speaking to the doctor about sickness meds is too dramatic?

Superscientist · 15/05/2020 11:37

I didn't really keep anything down from waking until about 3pm. Then nauseous from 3 till 6. Thankfully felt fine in time for my evening meal.
I lost quite a bit of weight and it was making me quite low. I was struggling to function. My gp focused more on how I was feeling rather than how many times I was being sick. Its worth asking, the worst they can say is no in which case you are in the same place as now. The meds allowed me to increase what I could eat and keep down which stopped me losing weight and improved my wellbeing.

Superscientist · 15/05/2020 11:41

If I was to do it again I would see my gp sooner. I had a routine appointment and brought it up then.

kidsareok, something that has helped many women of my acquaintance in same situation is homeopathy. Even a mention of this system of medicine prompts attacks on MN, but if you can get over your disbelief that it can work enough to give it a try, and ignore the ppl who think you are crazy to entertain the thought it might, it works wonders with this condition. Make sure you choose a qualified homeopath with proper letters after their name--this will save you time as fewer blind alleys of 'wrong remedy'. To the MN naysayers: I'm a science writer partnered with a research scientist and we both use homeopathy, as do many other scientists and medics whom we know.

Jasminex1 · 15/05/2020 14:42

@Superscientist oh gosh that sounds horrible, poor you!! That's definitely a lot worse than mine. I feel too nauseous to even go out for a walk and I feel like I'm eating terribly to try and get rid of the nausea, so if anything I'm just worried about keeping healthy for the baby and getting enough exercise and vitamins!

Jaddypinky · 15/05/2020 15:07

I am 6+1 and been having 24/7 nausea since 5+2 it’s horrific. Everything makes me feel sick all food and drink. Taking xonvea but not sure what it’s doing.
