Has anyone started doing the NCT online classes over zoom? If so how are you finding them?

I've just finished mine. Really enjoyed it. First session was a bit awkward but we had a really good group and a good laugh. Got a girly WhatsApp group from it we regularly message in which is nice, and a bigger one that includes the boys. Zoom works really well actually. We've enjoyed to

How do you find out about them? I have heard nothing about mine locally at all...

Thank you @Ginfilledcats I wasn’t sure if it’d be awkward and whether the sense of a group and support network would be as strong, I guess it all depends on the group of people! @La1ka we found out about them online www.nct.org.uk/courses-workshops/nct-live-online-antenatal-course

Thanks @orcadolph - sadly it seems there is nothing available to me! Never mind, I’ll try again in a few weeks

Ginfilledcats · 28/04/2020 20:33

@La1ka when are you due? They get booked up by about your 25th week!

@orcadolph so ours split into 3 sessions a day with about an hour break in between. Had a big group chat, 8 couples plus the doula, and she could put a power point presentation up but we would discuss it, or answer questions etc, then she would break us into smaller groups to discuss things like what we know about pain relief options for example. Got to speak more to other people then.
She'd leave the meeting "open" during breaks so often I'd come back from scoffing food and another couple would be on and we'd have a little chat and as more people came back they would join us. We enjoyed it.
We also did the positive birthing company videos (the paid for ones) and found the first half of positive birthing company over lapped with the first session entirely. However we found the info re pain relief and baby care really informative. And also a big section was on post op recovery mentally and physically which I think was useful for the men. We also split into a male and female group for about an hour where all the girls discussed more intimate girly things and i understand the boys discussed their concerns like going back to work potentially 2 weeks later, managing with lack of sleep and an emotional partner. Think that was really good.

We were given the option of a partial refund or to donate the money to their charity because of it going online. We option to donate as had already written off the money.

We are all due in June and have a meet up (hopefully real not virtual) planned for August
