Disposable pants

I've just bought to packs of disposable pants from Tesco, so that's 10 briefs in total.

Would you say that's enough? I'm aiming for a vaginal birth of that makes a difference!

I had one pack last time and then moved onto my 'period pants' that I chucked after the bleeding ended.

inwood · 28/04/2020 19:10

I didn't have any

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 28/04/2020 19:11

I don't think I bought any. I just bought a couple of packs of black M&S knickers that I then went on to wear for a few years after. You wear pads anyway for about 10 days.

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 28/04/2020 19:13

I got some but never wore them. I didn't really know what they were for!

flissity · 28/04/2020 19:16

I just bought cheap big comfy black knickers that I said I would get rid of. Then ended up wearing for ages as so comfy 😁

As long as you change the pads regularly then it’s not like anything should leak out.

TokyoSushi · 28/04/2020 19:17

I didn't but any either, just a 5 pack of black 'full briefs' from sainsburys and loads of pads which worked just fine.

moveandmove · 28/04/2020 19:17

I never used them. What would you need them for?

Fairylillie · 28/04/2020 19:18

I only used 7 pairs then I decided my old period pants were better. I'm not having anymore babies so I don't know what do with my remaining three pairs!

BikeRunSki · 28/04/2020 19:20

Cheap black granny pants are better and probably cheaper.

JKSN · 28/04/2020 19:22

I bought some which were supposedly one size up from my normal dress size and when I tried them on they were tiny! Much better to buy a pack of comfy black big knickers.

Babyshine2020 · 28/04/2020 19:24

They were only £1.50 for 5 pairs so, it was an impulse buy. I was just thinking for the first day or two, sounds like a multipack of big pants will work our best in the long run!

I just got black full briefs from primark, didn't see the point in disposable underwear. (Can vouch for Tesco maternity towels and breast pads though. I used both, found them brilliant, no issues at all).

happymummy12345 · 28/04/2020 19:29

Though I should say I had my son 4 and a half years ago so can't say they are still as good now, but would guess so

Blueswede · 28/04/2020 19:32

I wore 2 of my 5 pack, preferred my old saggy period pants with a pair of DH boxers over Grin funnily enough the midwives actually told me to borrow his boxers and when I said I had disposable knicks they were quite keen for me to wear either boxers or big cotton knickers!

MangoM · 28/04/2020 19:35

I never bought any. I just took 5-6 old comfy pants that I didn't mind throwing away if I had to.

The hospital gave me some disposable pants and they were horrible. The maternity pads wouldn't stay in place at all when wearing the disposable pants so I'm glad I didn't buy any myself.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/04/2020 19:36

You don't need disposable pants . You'll be wearing pads, so just use some old pants.

maryberryslayers · 28/04/2020 19:48

Disposable pants are the best thing ever just after birth, especially if you have to stay in hospital. No washing to worry about and you feel nice and fresh being able to change everything as often as you like.

Make sure you get 2 sizes too big though as the Tesco ones are ridiculously tight!

Bertucci · 28/04/2020 19:50

I just put aside a bag of pants that were due to be replaced, and wore them then threw them away. I wore disposables for about 2 days the first time, but it was a bit depressing.

Liveforholidays · 28/04/2020 21:49

I've just ordered two packs of m and s full black briefs online (in the absence of being able to get to the shops). Price wasn't too bad.

Sleepyquest · 28/04/2020 21:50

They aren't great tbh. I also bought big black pants from M&S!

squee123 · 28/04/2020 23:14

disposable incontinence pants were great for me for the first week before moving on to big cotton knickers and pads

SomeoneElseEntirelyNow · 28/04/2020 23:18

I just got a couple of packs of tena lady pants, the incontinence ones. I was bleeding a LOT and they're completely leak proof. I hate pads (feels like wearing a nappy) and couldn't be doing with washing bloody knickers on top of everything else. Disposable incontinence pants ftw, i recommend them to all pregnant ladies who ask.

Babyshine2020 · 29/04/2020 08:35

@SomeoneElseEntirelyNow that was my logic with my throw away oants. Everything in the bin and one less mess. I'll have a look at the pants though, two birds with one stone!
