maxi-cosi question

Just bought a maxi-cosi infant carrier yesterday - I left the box in the shop and just carried it home as I was on foot. But when I got home I wondered if it was not supposed to come with a sunshade, which would presumably have remained in the box. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

The sunshade is integrated into the top of the seat - you have to pull the plastic tray out a bit at the top and pull it out - bit stiff at first.

The instructions are in the storage compartment at the back.

There is a switch at the bottom, underneath, which you use to make it flatter for new borns.

There are slots at the side on the plastic bit which you use to hang the straps on when putting the baby in to keep them out of the way and one at the bottom for the middle strap.

This is the accumulated knowledge that any maxi cosi cabrio owner eventually works out after about a year as, for some reason, no one ever tells you about the instruction manual in the hidden compartment that tells you all this.

I have a slightly older style Maxi Cosi carrier without the integrated sunshade/seat reclining option but which are still available. Our sunshade was with the instructions in the compartment at the back, as described before. HTH

Thanks so much! Have located the built-in sunshade and even the elusive instruction manual. Very happy not to have embarrassed myself by returning to the shop ...

(nb they have discontinued the 'flatter for newborns' switch and replaced it with a removable foam wedge in the angle of the seat - take it out when thhey get too long for the headhugger bit. enlightening thread here.)

aaahh I wondered what that thread about wedge was all about. Mine is a couple of year old. i wonder why they replaced the switch - seems to work quite well. I have ds2 in it now - hope there is nothing wrong with it such that they changed it!

BagLady - glad you found everything without having to go back to the shop - exactly what I did 3 years ago storming into john Lewis demanding to know why they hadn't given me a sunshade .....
