Baby measuring large...will I be induced?

I have had the midwife today, I am 37 weeks but measuring 44 weeks. I have the hospital next week and the midwife said that the consultant may want to see me the following week. Baby has measured big all along. I had a scan 3 weeks ago, where baby was bigger than average and I wasn't carrying excess fluid.

What are the chances of me being induced? I don't mind being induced or having a natural labour, whatever is needed to get baby here safely.

I'm just curious as to if other people have been in this situation and have been induced or left to go into labour naturally.

It is not an exact science. I was told my son was measuring 'big' several times. I had extra scans and was seeing a consultant due to my age. My son was born at 40+5 and weighed 8lb 2.5 -bang on the 50th centile. I have had friends who were told baby was big who have 6lbers. And another who had 2 10lb babies but was never told hey were measuring big.

You need to have three growth scans to estimate the size of the baby as accurately as possible. Growth scan can be inaccurate but mine were spot on for DD2. I was offered induction at 38 weeks but I declined and choose a c section at 39 weeks. I tried most old wives tales and DD2 was born at 38+1.

You have a lot of control of this situation ask your consultant for the BRAIN of different situations, Benefits, Risks, Alternative, instinctive tell you and what happens if you choose to do nothing.

I measured big for dates in three out of four pregnancies and wasn't induced for any of them, despite begging my consultant for the third as I was measuring 70 weeks pregnant!
One was 9lb 5oz at 41 weeks
One was 9lb 0.5oz at 36+6
One was 8lb 4oz at 39 weeks

They won’t induce you without an ultrasound.

I measured big with my first, and they still let me go two weeks over and she was 11lb 6.5oz (failed inductions and then emergency section). With my second, I had extra growth scans and was measuring big again, so they did an elective section at 39 weeks and she was 9lb 13oz. In my experience, with your first they try not to induce unless necessary.

I measured big....I can’t remember the exact measurements as it was 10 years ago now but they still let me go 2 weeks over my due date and my DS was 10lb 15oz.

DS2 measured big and I was told that I’d either have a csection or be induced (if the states so very risk averse). I chose to be induced, he was born at 38weeks and was 9lbs 6ozs he did have large shoulders and head and I ended up with an episiotomy as he got stuck.

My hospital's policy was to offer induction if a scan predicted baby would be over 10lb. You will need an ultrasound certainly.
