Hi ladies,

I’m 20 weeks on Thursday. Have any of you felt much movement from baby? I’ve had a few bubble like flutters and sometimes when I get up get a poking feeling (if that makes sense) in my side.

I weighed myself today at 19 + 3 and I’ve went from 10st 5 (approx) pre pregnancy to 12 st 1. From looking at pregnancy weight calculators this seems a lot and I’m rather scared I have gestational diabetes. Sorry must add I’m 39 nearly 40 and 3rd child.

Only appointments I’ve had due to the pandemic was the booking in app which I also had bloods taken for the tests and my 12 (turned out to be 14) week scan. Haven’t had a 16 week midwife appointment and due my 20 week scan this Thursday.

Any advice, anyone on the same boat?

Thanks xx

Hi, I'm 21 weeks so in a similar situation.
This is my second baby so I'm feeling lots of movements. What you've described sounds totally normal for movements though.

I've only seen the midwife at booking too, and the next time I see her it'll have been 20 weeks since the last! Crazy!

I've put about a stone on which I think is more than recommended at this stage too, but I'm just putting it down to overeating at Christmas and during lockdown!

Good luck for the rest of pregnancy xx

Hey, I'm 19 weeks with second baby and I'm really not feeling much either. I can go days without feeling a "pop" or flutter. I'm half expecting to be told I have anterior placenta at 20 week scan next Friday. I'm trying to not to worry - if you t
look at NHS/RSOG website with an open mind, you will hopefully be reassured that they both say 18-24 weeks for feeling movement, regardlessof whether it is first pregnancy or not. Take care :)

dreamingofyellowandnavy · 26/04/2020 21:34

I had this with my second pregnancy and it turned out I had thyroid issues. Get yourselves checked!

CuriousMary · 26/04/2020 21:35

Hi! I'm 20 weeks on Wednesday and also have my scan on Thursday Smile It's also my 3rd pregnancy.
I had a private scan at 16 weeks which showed I have an anterior placenta, I'm feeling really slight and I mean barely noticeable movements. I would have been worried if it was my first pregnancy and not felt anything this far on. I felt my other 2 around 16/17 weeks.

@DaisyF1986
Thank you for your reply.
Is there certain times of the day you feel movements more and are they quite strong?
Being my third I thought would have been more pronounced especially as I didn’t exactly have a six pack before getting pregnant Hmm

@Toffee86
Thank you for your reply.
I had a private scan before 12 (turned out to be 14) week scan and was told placenta was in textbook place. Seems this baby is bigger hence earlier due date although I knew exactly last date of menstruation.
Take care too Smile

@dreamingofyellowandnavy
Thank you for your reply.
I’m just concerned about getting subsequent blood and urine tests as all midwife appointment just now here are over the phone.
Have only had one for initial blood tests.
Maybe request a doctor appointment to check urine and blood.
Take care Smile

@CuriousMary
Hi, thank you for your reply.
That’s why I’m worried as it’s my third and you’re supposed to feel movements earlier apparently. Just the odd flutter.
I went for a private scan before my 12 week scan and was told placenta was text book position, not sure if that can change or not and also further along than what I took to be from lmp.
Take care Smile

Hey OP I'm 19 weeks with my third too.

The only movements I have felt so far are more like squirmy wriggly sensations; a bit like having a fish swimming around inside of me.

I average about be or two of these 'episodes' a day but can go all day without feeling anything at all.

It's normal to not feel much right up until about 24 weeks pregnant so try not to worry too much.

Fingerscrossed11 · 26/04/2020 21:52

@LatteLover12
Thank you. That makes me feel better Smile
I have the odd little bubble feeling now and again but not as much as I’d have thought with 3rd. X

@Fingerscrossed11 ah I see. Up until this last week the movements haven't been so strong, and I actually rang the midwife to see if it sounded right and she said it just could be that the baby is quieter in general.

Then this week it's as if they've exploded! My placenta is posterior this time as opposed to anterior last time.

I don't think it would hurt to ring the midwife but like you say I don't think they would see you unless they were really concerned. I don't think mine would anyway.

Hope all is ok
X

When you have GD the baby moves like crazy when you eat carbs.

Firstbub · 26/04/2020 22:03

Just to say, I didn’t start to feel proper, there’s no mistaking this movements until 21+4 days (at my 20 week scan I found out I had an anterior placenta and that can middle movements).

Fingerscrossed11 · 26/04/2020 22:05

@DaisyF1986
Thank you. Hopefully within the next week they become more pronounced 19+3 just now.
Have my 20 week scan on Thursday and wasn’t planning to but if asked if I want to know sex of the baby I will. Have been trying to buy baby gros online and can’t find them in newborn or 0-3 months anywhere. I think due to this pandemic people are planning ahead as we don’t know how long it will last. So blue or pink might make it a little easier.
Was supposed to be getting a 16wk midwife app over the phone which didn’t happen so looking forward to the 20 week scan on Thursday.
It’s just quite scary compared to other pregnancies albeit last was over 6 years ago and i felt then was getting regular reviews etc.
Thank you again Smile

@GirlCalledJames
Hi, thank you for your reply. I eat quite a lot of carbs and baby hasn’t went crazy. Is that the same for 19+3 weeks? Was just concerned reading how much weight you should put on in each week and I’ve went up 1stone 9pounds and I haven’t been eating anymore than usual x

@Firstbub
Thank you for your reply.
I had a private scan before my nhs 12 week scan just to make sure everything was okay as I’m 40 this year and just wanted reassurance. Can’t remember which position she said placenta was but that it was the best position. To the back I presume x

I'm 20 weeks on Tuesday and haven't really felt movement yet.

I have GD and so far am weighing 3kg less than my booking in weight.

sel2223 · 26/04/2020 23:21

@Fingerscrossed11 I'm 37 and 24+4 with my first.
I didn't feel any movements at all until I was over 22 weeks despite having scans at 14, 17 and 20 weeks where baby was spinning around and kicking like crazy! I found out at my 20 week scan that I have an anterior placenta which can make a big difference to when you feel movements and how strongly you feel them.
I know I've put on a fair bit of weight but refusing to go on the scales as i know it'll just stress me out.

Saggs · 29/04/2020 21:47

Am 38 - third baby - and 20 weeks yesterday. Had scan yesterday and they didn't do any bloods or anything so no idea about GD. I feel like I have put on a lot of weight but also refusing to weigh myself until after baby!

Have also felt no movements!! Which was also weird as felt my second at 14 weeks but they told me yesterday I gave an anterior placenta.
