Ok so I am currently 19+4 weeks pregnant with my first and just worry about everything! I don't think I feel the baby move much if not at all and it's just hit me 😩 I know I'm still early, when did everybody else start feeling movements? It's also so hard to be able to tell the difference between the baby moving and just wind especially as it's all new to me. I think I'm just expecting some really strong movements even though I know the baby will still only be small, atleast if I felt the baby I know everything is ok in there!

I was over 22 weeks when I felt anything at all and, even then, it was just little flutters. I thought it was just gas at first lol.
I'm now 24+2 and they're stronger and more frequent but still just flutters rather than actual kicks.

I did find out at my 20 week scan that I've got an anterior placenta which makes a difference as it means it's on the front so cushions a lot of movement. She was moving like crazy on the scan yet I couldn't feel a thing which was very strange!

I’m the same as @sel2223 - at the 20 week scan I found out I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel any movements until 22 weeks apart from maybe an occasional twinge that I was never sure was baby or a fart Blush The kicks now are very distinct at 24 weeks and DH is even able to feel some of them so don’t worry too much, it’s still early days for you!

Williams3001 · 25/04/2020 17:04

You're very early for strong movements so don't worry (and if you can't tell if it's gas or baby, it's probably baby).

I felt the first kicks at 17 weeks but it was the teeniest, tiniest tap, tap, in my belly and then it was gone. I'm pretty sure I only felt it then because I was lying on my stomach reading. It wasn't until week 19 that I could feel definitive kicks; and these were still tiny and infrequent.

I've been feeling stronger kicks since week 22 (like someone is prodding me with a finger from the inside) and DH has even felt a few now, but my midwife did say at by 24-week appointment this week that baby is surprisingly strong.

It’s still early days. I was over 22 weeks. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know!)

Mucklowe · 25/04/2020 17:44

I am just coming up to 22 weeks, and have only been feeling her move within the past few days. I also have anterior placenta.

Chanel05 · 25/04/2020 18:03

@emilyx123 I'm also 19+4 and don't really think I've felt anything. It's actually a relief to read someone is exactly the same gestation and in the same position!

emilyx123 · 25/04/2020 18:09

@chanel05 oh wow really! 😃 how lovely, have you found out the sex? Feel relieved knowing somebody else is in the same boat as me!x

My first pregnancy was with twins and I still didn’t feel anything of significance until past 20 weeks.

Chanel05 · 25/04/2020 22:40

@emilyx123 I did the sneek peek at a clinic at 10 weeks which came back girl so the scan will confirm this either way! Have you found out the sex yet? When is your scan?

emilyx123 · 25/04/2020 22:56

@chanel05 we aren't finding out! 🙈 it's so hard though lol. My scan isn't until 4th May I'll be 20+6 when is yours?

@emilyx123 it'll be a lovely surprise! I always knew we would find out as I like to know things!! My scan is on Wednesday. Dh is disappointed that he can't join.

Hi,
Sorry to jump on the thread but I'm going through this today.. So I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and I've not felt baby move today. He's more of a wriggler than a kicker but I've tried everything apart from having a bath (which is currently running) I've taken the dog on a reasonably long walk, done some cleaning, had a hot drink, a cold drink. I'm a first time mum and I suffer horrendously with anxiety and I just don't know what to do.
My partner is a nurse and he suggested the bath but is there anything else I should or could be doing?
Also at what point do you ring midwife about movements?
Sorry and thanks in advance.

Spinbaby · 26/04/2020 12:34

Hi purpleowl, call now then head in. Hope all is ok x

guiltandchocolate · 26/04/2020 13:03

Leave the bath etc. Prompting a baby to move isn’t recommended you need to go ASAP and be monitored xxx

sel2223 · 26/04/2020 13:06

@Purpleowl94 I would ring them and see what they say. Better safe than sorry x

Purpleowl94 · 26/04/2020 13:11

Thanks everyone. 👍 I did try and ring earlier however no answer I will ring again now. Thank you xx

Purpleowl94 · 26/04/2020 14:12

I have been up to the hospital and baby all okay on the monitor. Just got to wait for a doctor as my pulse is high.. Its 137 so I'm a bit unsure about what this means x
