I'm 6 weeks preg and 22 weeks ago my youngest son was born sleeping.
I've been told from 12 weeks I have to start taking low dose aspirin.
Anyone know why I shouldn't be taking it now and why i have to wait? I dont see my doc till tuesday

Didnt want to read and run 💙 I've had a note from the midwife to GP that I will have to take it from 12 weeks too but no explanation and she didnt tell me on my telephone call. I'm 10 weeks so dont get why either.

My consultant advised I take low dose aspirin from 7 weeks, I've never heard of taking it from 12 weeks.

My last pregnancy she advised I take it once we'd seen a heartbeat around 6/7 weeks which I did.
We lost that baby but I'm pregnant again and they're not scanning so she said to take it from 7 weeks.

Sorry to hear about your previous experience 💙 I also have been prescribed Aspirin from 12 weeks (due to higher BMI). My understanding is that Aspirin is prescribed to help blood flow in the placenta and that the placenta takes over at around 12 weeks so it isn’t needed until then 😊 I was given my prescription at my 12 week scan and told to take it from that day onwards.

I’m taking low dose aspirin due to my age and IVF baby.
As pp says, I was told that it’s only beneficial once the placenta takes over at 12 weeks but that’s just my personal experience.
So sorry for your previous loss 💙

I was told to take from 12 weeks, they specifically told me not before but couldn't tell me why 🤷‍♀️

I'm worried now!
As I say, my consultant specifically told me not to take it before 6/7 weeks or we see a heartbeat. Something to do with the blood needing to clot a bit to help baby stick.
My midwife also suggested I take it.

But now I'm wondering if I should have waited until 12 weeks! But I trusted what my consultant at the recurrent MC clinic told us...

I wouldn’t worry @Frazzlerock! You’re following what you were told to do for your individual needs 😊
