Can anyone recommend a baby carrier or sling that’s ideal to use from newborn. There is so many on the internet I just don’t know where to start.

Ergobaby Omni 360 was great... Great back support when they get heavier too

I like moby wrap for newborn. Then "babybjorn carrier one" (not original) for when they get some weight on them!

Close caboo or a Connecta (you’ll need an accessory strap for a newborn). We had an Ergo 360 as well but I found it really hot using the newborn insert!

Thank you! I’ll take a look at them all online now. Never bothered with 1 for my other 2 so didn’t even know where to start.

I used a Moby wrap when my son was tiny and for round the house. I have a Stokke Mycarrier for outdoor use which I’m still using now at 17m!

ChelseaCat · 24/04/2020 20:37

I have the baby born carrier one and have used it since he was born. We love it - super comfortable for both of us!

I had a moby wrap for my tiny baby when he was born, now in the ergo baby omni 360 which is really supportive now he’s heavier.

frazzledasarock · 25/04/2020 05:03

I did not get on with the caboo close at all. I really wanted to love it, but hated it, it kept slipping and was so uncomfortable and offers no back support. I had SPD during pregnancy and after I had my baby’s my back and hips were still achy for ages afterwards.

I ended up buying a baby bjorn carrier and love it. I can still comfortably carry my 15 month old in it, and when she was tiny the carrier was adjustable for newborns. It’s really good for back and hip support too.

I love my moby wrap and I'm still using it at 7 months. I use it most days.

I have a Babybjorn One Air. Chose it because its suitable from birth and will last until 3yo, no seperate insert is needed, can be worn on front or back, comfortably fits my husband and I although we are very different sizes and the 'Air' version is a more breathable fabric to stop us getting too warm. I had planned on getting the ergobaby (after online research) but we tried a few different carriers in the shop and I preferred the Babybjorn. If you have the opportunity try different carriers and slings before you buy.

It might be worth getting in touch with your local sling library. They should be able to advise and some do postal hires. Stretchy wraps are great for newborns but so many other choices - slings are a bit personal so it's worth trying some to find out what you like (which is obviously not quite so easy at the moment). We've used connecta carriers a lot and really recommend them (now called integra).

Woven wrap. Lasts throughout to toddler years

INeedNewShoes · 25/04/2020 06:46

I also didn’t get on well with the close caboo.

I ended up fairly swiftly buying the Ergobaby adapt which has been absolutely brilliant: easy to use and just seemed straightforward getting DD into a good position in it.

Whatever you buy, be careful to check the minimum weight. DD didn’t meet the minimum weight for the Caboo when I first tried to use it at 6 weeks (I hadn’t thought to check) and I only realised and looked into it after I’d tried to use it and realised she wasn’t in a good position in it for breathing.

baby k-tan is an excellent soft sling. ergo baby 360 for longer walks etc when they are a bit bigger

Buyitinbamboo · 25/04/2020 07:05

I found a stretchy wrap, close caboo or ring sling best for newborn then a connecta. You can buy a stretchy wrap for pennies second hand.

MindyStClaire · 25/04/2020 07:42

I had the close caboo lite which I loved for when she was little around the house. Also had the ergo 360 which was more sturdy when she was a bit bigger.

I rarely used them out and about as she took all her naps in them so I was only too keen to get her in the buggy for a walk, but I think I would've preferred the sturdiness of the ergo for any long trips.

beautifulmonument · 25/04/2020 08:45

I had an ergobaby carrier but found it wasn't ideal for carrying a small baby round the house or just for short periods so I got a hug-a-bub ring sling which was great, super easy to pull on and off. The ergobaby got loads of use once DS was a bit bigger.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 25/04/2020 08:49

It depends when your baby is due. If it’s a winter due date then I can thoroughly recommend the Ergobaby original. DD was born in November and it was brilliant.

Summer baby: Lillebaby Complete Airflow. My friend has one and really likes it.

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 25/04/2020 08:50

I also got a ring sling from Oscha. I carted my newborn nephew and toddler DD around in it and it was a) gorgeous, and b) really comfy.

Thank you for all your help and advice baby won’t be here u tip the end of June start of July so I’ll maybe hold out on the hope I’ll be able to pop to the shop to have a proper look at them to see which would suit us best.
