Diarrhea during pregnancy

I’m 24+1 weeks pregnant and have had tummy ache with diarrhea for the past couple days, today I’ve had bad tummy ache around 7 times already. Each time I have the urge to use the bathroom, sometimes I’ll go and sometimes I dont but the urge to go is still there
I had a bowl of cereal this morning which results in 6 episode. I had one of those small microwave pizzas at around 1ish and an hour later I’ve got the stomach pain again with diarrhea. I’m getting scared to eat as it makes the pain worse
To me it sounds like IBS but Ive never had it this bad before, its getting to the point where I just want to cry
Ive phoned the doctors and theyre not phoning me until Monday morning

Is this a normal part of pregnancy or is it just IBS?

Any advice would be great! Thanks

No idea but I’ve just posted a similar question about period type pain and diarrhoea. I’m 21 weeks. The diarrhoea is on and off but seem to have a permanent tummy ache.

I’m 24 weeks 2 days and I’ve been getting this in the last few days too Sad

I did ring MAU as I had some spotting too which turned out to not be related, so I’m not sure what is causing the bad stomach!

I have noticed since getting pregnant my tummy is way more sensitive than it used to be, certain foods seem to just not agree with me.

I would ring your midwife if you’re getting Diarrhea a lot as it can lead to dehydration and try make sure to drink lots of water if you can 💕

@TwinkleStars15 I’d definitely phone the midwife if you’re getting a period type pain as well, hope you feel better soon

@Jem9153 oh god it’s awful isn’t it! Did you struggle to eat too? I’m scared to eat incase it gives me a horrible pain again. Sometimes I’ll go to the bathroom but nothing happens.. even though it feels like I need to go!

I’m not sure whether to phone the midwife or doctor as I don’t know if it’s pregnancy related or not 🙈 so awkward!
Thank you for the advice xx

Diarrhoea and abdominal pain can be symptoms of covid-19, I'm not saying this is what you have but for my sister who had a positive test her only symptoms were fatigue and diarrhoea and later a temperature. I'd say rest up and drink lots of fluids, dont worry too much about eating as long as you a drinking and if it is a tummy bug you'll likely feel better in a day or two

@SpudsAreLife84 oh god hopefully not! Thanks very much, am trying to drink lots ☺️

Ive had this on and off since about 20 week, I seem to be constipated for about 5 days and then I get bad diarrhoea. Not sure if its right but I have had no bad blood tests and have 4 weekly growth scans and there doesn't seem to be a problem. A google search said it was just my bodies way of dealing with the constipation.

SpudsAreLife84 · 24/04/2020 17:27

Its more than likely not but I thought I better mention it just in case. How do you feel in yourself bar the cramps?

abbieo · 24/04/2020 18:08

@LH1987 that’s awful :( I didn’t realise how much pregnancy can mess with your body! I’m pregnant with my second but had next to no symptoms with my first so this is all new to me!

@SpudsAreLife84 I feel absolutely fine in myself, just a bit drained from stomach aches but normal apart from that! How’s your sister? Hope she’s recovering well

Hi I’m a lot earlier on in my pregnancy than you (nearly 10 weeks). I have had Coronavirus symptoms along with Diarrhea so can’t be sure if that was linked to pregnancy. However I had to visit a and e due to having high ketones in my urine, I mentioned the Diarrhea to the nurse and she said that it’s quite common in pregnancy.

quarantinevibes · 24/04/2020 18:35

I’ve had this for a couple of days I am 17 weeks. It seems to come and go .. I’m not too worried as I’ve had it in the other pregnancies too. It seems to give me more of a sensitive stomach. It’s not quiet as bad as 6 time’s a day though once or twice only so I’d speak to your mw
