Painful back/pelvic during pregnancy - 25 weeks

We were out for a drink yesterday and I was sat on a bar stool. Suddently, I felt a painful ache on my right side, around the back and around the pelvis. It was bad enought for me to want to home right there and then and it kept me awake all night.

After trying lots of different positions I found one where I didn't feel the pain and managed to drop off. The pain is as bad today and I thought a walk would help - it didn't and I could barely make it home!

I have taken 2 paracetomol and feel a little better but am worried over whether I should go to the hospital to get checked out - has anyone else had this? Knows what causes it? Has any advise of how to get rid of it!!

Please help!

As far as I know it could be a few things. I had a similar experience recently, which was really scary at first but was soon diagnosed. Within a week I was reassured and at a physiotherapist getting help (which wroks very well). So I'd say, get it checked out.
Could be just a muscle or ligament stretching or it could be something like I've got which is called Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. I agree with you, it's scary when you get an unexplained pain. It's probably nothing scary at all.
BTW my midwife checked me out and referred me.
Good luck!

I'm wondering if the way you were sat yesterday has made baby lay on a nerve.

I dont think it will be anything nasty but if your worried definately call your MW.

Possibly a urinary tract infection,.
Any symptoms which might suggest that?, stinging, frequency etc.

My immediate thought was SPD -if you have a search on here you'll find some threads on it. Have a look at the descriptions of the type and location of the pain and see if its what you're experiencing?

Hi guys thanks for your responses. After taking two paracetomol yesterday afternoon I started to feel much better. And even better, after these had wore off I had no further pain. I'm thinking it was either the baby's feet poking me or laying on a nerve, or just a strained ligiment that has calmed down.

I did have SPD with DD when I was pregnant (and after the birth) so it could also be a warning to make me slow down or there is worse to come!! (I don't know about you, but I feel very active and am raring to go!)

Thanks to you all again,
xx
