Hello I had a MMC at 6 weeks found out after an early scan at 9 weeks had a D&C on the 6th of march 7 weeks ago, I've still not had my period i bleed for about a week after the procedure and then 3 weeks ago I had spotting that lasted 2-3 days that's was brown with small clots (sorry if to much info) then same again last week then Saturday my boobs really hurt then I started getting aching pain all round my back and in my legs so really though mother nature was sure to arrive but again its just spotting some fresh blood and old, I'm 35 and this was my second pregnancy I wasnt regularly after coming of the pill to try for this pregnancy anything from 31- 40 day cycle. I guess before I phone th doctor has anyone else had any issues like this.

Many thanks

Sorry for your loss, OP. I hope you’re doing okay.

Is there any way you could actually be pregnant again or is that not a possibility? Also, have you taken a pregnancy test since the d&c? After mine (which coincidentally was the 7th March but back in 2017) I was told to test for pregnancy afterwards to ensure everything was “completed.” I can’t remember how soon after I was told to test but I remember having a positive test 6 weeks post procedure and I had to go back in to check there wasn’t anything “stuck”. Thankfully all was fine and eventually the test went negative but just wondering if you checked a test showed negative?

Im doing ok just want my body to get back to normal, I was never told to do a test after infact they said not to as it would still show up as pregnant. There is a slim possibility I could be pregnant but I really dont feel it is more like period pain rather then pregnancy aches.

Sorry to hear you had the same, how long did it take for your period to return?
Thanks for your response. Smile

I had a mmc and d&c in 2016 and after six months my periods hadn’t come back, I went back to see the surgeon and had a scan was told all was normal and periods would return eventually. Then I started getting severe period pain every four weeks but no bleeding, I went back again had a scan at the time of the pain and found my cervix was blocked and womb was full of blood that couldn’t get out! I needed an hysteroscopy to unblock my cervix, I was so mad I’d missed out on over a year TTC when it was wasn’t physically possible! So keep an eye on it because complications can happen! X

Maybe wait a few days and see what happens? I’d maybe be inclined to test anyway just to rule it out!

It’s interesting that they told you not to test. Obviously my experience was a few years ago so maybe they’ve changed the advice now. I had to wait a certain length of time before testing.. possibly even the full 6 weeks. My period returned a month after the negative test that I eventually got (at maybe 6.5/7 weeks post surgery). I remember it feeling like the longest time, and was desperate to just get back to feeling normal. You’ll get there! I would take a test though. They didn’t talk to you at all about products being leftover? That was why they told me to test if I remember rightly.

Oh you poor thing that's awful I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Did you have any other symptoms like spotting ?

See I'm 7 weeks post op today so I'll tube till next and then definitely test thanks you, honestly they didnt really say anything after the op apart from if I start to bleed heavy or feel unwell to phone them or go to A&E the leaflets they gave me where about help and advice but not the actual procedure . It feels like it's been forever this waiting my skins awful and has been sence I was pregnant and it just feels draining.

Ah ok, the heavy bleeding and ill feeling are signs of leftover products as well, I think so I guess that kind of covers it.

I’m really sorry that things haven’t been easy since. It’s hard enough to deal with, let alone it not being simple afterwards. I really hope you get your period back soon and can move forward!

Suffolkmumma · 23/04/2020 23:07

Thank you, hopefully things will return soon.i hope all is well with you now.

I had the same loss and procedure in 2017, I bled for about three or four weeks after (I can't remember exactly which, it was right on the cusp of when they said 'if it goes on past this date, come back to us')

I think it was about 8 weeks after I stopped bleeding I got my first period. I conceived again 7 months after the miscarriage and that pregnancy resulted in my daughter but I genuinely think I hadn't given my body enough time to physically recover from the miscarriage until then. I was exhausted for a couple of months and I didn't really realise I was clearly very anaemic, I think miscarriage can be a lot more physically taxing on the body than we really talk about. From talking with friends who've had the same thing, I think a few months of delayed/irregular/confused periods is perfectly normal, but that being said if you're unsure of anything of course go to your doctor.

My feeling about my miscarriage was anger that nobody really prepared me for how physically hard I would find it: I went back to work almost immediately and I was really wiped out for a while. Take care of yourself, rest, make sure your iron levels are what they should be and maybe give yourself a bit more time but accept that it may take a little while before you get back to normal.

After my first mmc it took about 8 weeks for my first period. After the second one it was about 6. Dr said this is totally normal x

Suffolkmumma · 24/04/2020 18:48

Thank you for you response, this is my second pregnancy I have a 2.5 year old boy and before I new I was pregnant this time I hadnt felt right then I did a test and figured it was pregnancy symptoms just different to my first but I've felt exhausted sence and still not myself so I totally understand what your saying I started taking multivitamins and minerals last week because I wondered if maybe I was low on some stuff . I bled for 7ish day but still had discoloration for a few days after that so hopefully my monthly will return soon I plan to go back on the pill for a while mainly due to the current situation with covid-19 but really want a normal period before starting it again.

Thanks bee222 I guess I've still got some time then and hopefully nothing to worry about.
