Slimming world whilst pregnant?

Hi all!
I’m now 5wks pregnant! I’m about 2 stone overweight, but I’m also very short and I can’t bear the thought of gaining lots of weight whilst pregnant as I already look really out of proportion. I know I will gain some weight obviously, and I’m happy with that but I just want to damage control because I know how miserable I will be at the end if I let loose and eat what I want.
I’m just wondering if people have success stories with following slimming world whilst pregnant? Whether they lost a bit or managed to maintain? I’ve read up that it’s safe to do during pregnancy as it is just healthy eating, is this right?

My midwife said to me weight watchers is the only diet plan that has a specific plan for pregnancy and the aim is more to maintain rather than lose weight, but also get healthier eating habits. Nothing to say you can't use slimming world recipes, they work on the same kind of principles. At least with weight watchers they break down the calories too :)

I don’t think it’s correct that weight watchers is encouraged.

My midwife told me that Slimming World can be continued but they need to sign something for you to take to group.

Your midwife is wrong.

Slimming world is fine. As is losing some weight (dependent on your weight to start with of course). It’s also safe to follow a sensible calorie controlled diet without slimming world etc.

Congratulations!!! Speak to your GP if you want to lose weight . I definitely know it can successfully be done !!!!

If you are already overweight then you don’t need to put on as much weight as you think . If you take care of yourself it will likely just be baby and that will all go to your belly . I personally found that my big belly made me look more slim in other areas in comparison.

Also , kinda cool - I’ve always had a bit of a flabby belly . Nothing horrible but just not perfectly flat and I never felt comfortable wearing skin tight clothing . But while pregnant I loved wearing tight tops to show off my shape . I felt so good in my skin for the first time ever !!!

Of course by the end of your pregnancy you might swell up so much everywhere that you’ll feel like a whale but I promise that goes away !!!!!
