Preterm labour

I'm currently 26 weeks and over the past week I have been experiencing pressure almost like the baby is pushing down and sometimes like he's going to come out and vaginal pain when I'm exercising, standing or pushing.

Today I have started having low back pain that feels like period pains, it cramps and then cramps at the front then goes away. I've felt this about 4 times today.

I've scared myself googling now and seeing the signs of preterm labour 🙄 have others experienced this or should I be concerned?

Ring the hospital/midwife straight away. It maybe Braxton Hicks or it may be labour- whichever don’t risk it as your baby will need support at birth so would be better in hospital. Good luck x

OP deffo deffo ring your hospital!

It may be absolutely nothing but if it’s preterm labour you need to act right away!

My waters broke at 25 weeks and I needed steroid injections to enhance my babies lungs. I’ve not gone into early labour yet but it could happen at any moment and it is incredibly important To get those steroids in before preterm labour!

You will also like need magnesium sulphate if you are in early labour to help baby’s brain development!

Also early labour is like a boulder rolling down a hill. You can do stuff to stop it before it properly starts but once things are moving you can’t stop them!

I don’t want to scare you because like the PP is could be Braxton hicks but keeping your baby in there or acting quickly to give them the best chance if they come early is SO important in terms of preterm viability rates xx

Thank you both for your replies I will definitely call the hospital to see what they think!

@MrsRose2018 I'm sorry to hear you've had a hard pregnancy! 💐 did you have any other symptoms/feelings when you're waters broke early or was that your only sign? Xx

Thanks OP! Boys... they ain't nothing but trouble!!

Nope no signs at all, just started leaking amnio.

The hospital told me to be in the moon out for vaginal/pelvic pressure or pain and contraction type cramps!

Both of those are just part of the joys of being pregnant - baby stretching or pushing on your bladder/cervix and "Fanny daggers" etc but deffo just to be in the safe side x
