No partner allowed at scan

So I will be having my 12 week scan this Monday.
I am scared and excited and pretty sad that my partner won't be allowed to join me due to covid.

Does anyone know if it would be allowed to video call him during the whole appointment so he can see what I see? Anyone else who's done this?

I had my 12 weeks scan a couple of weeks ago. Although no partners allowed, they make you feel at ease.
I had to ring from my car and let them know I've arrived, in which they met me at the door with anti bac gel. (Also have to gel on the way out too)
No videos or phoning partners during the scan allowed, but car parking was free and they gave me 6 photos of the baby for free :)
At the 20 week scan they can give you a slip stating whether it's a boy or girl and put it in an envelope so you and your partner can find out together x

I had a scan 5 days ago and there were signs up saying no phones allowed. I did get some free prints though.

I know it's a shame partners can't attend but that's not the purpose of the scan unfortunately. To reassure anyone who's worried about attending alone, it was absolutely fine when I went last week....lots of protective measures re covid19, social distancing in the waiting room, every woman sitting alone in the exact same position and the staff were all really lovely. It was all very relaxed.

I had my 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago and my husband wasn’t allowed with me. Once the sonographer had completed the scan, she let me video a small clip of the scan at the end!
It might just depend on what hospital you’re at?

Lozziiee8993 · 22/04/2020 18:15

@N12345625 I'm in Northamptonshire, when I went for my booking appointment, this was at the beginning of the lockdown and social distancing.
They declined my husband being there, whilst at the appointment they stated that partners or a plus one would not be able to attend any scans or further appointments.

However, my appointment letter did say I could bring an additional person. But it might have been a generic letter sent out.
When I got to the outpatients unit I asked again and they said no.

N12345625 · 22/04/2020 18:46

@FoxtrotSkarloey @Lozziiee8993 thank you for letting me know :) I will ring them up the day before if they don't contact me... I kind of assumed my partner wouldn't be allowed.

fool11 · 22/04/2020 18:49

I received today a letter due my 27w scan which says one person allowed to come but was in hospital yest for my glucose tolerance test and there were posters everywhere saying only woman who has a scan can attend the scan, no men allowed in the clinic. So the letters must be just a generic ones which they have on file. We are in Surrey.

BuffaloCauliflower · 22/04/2020 19:23

The letters going out are the generic ones yes, definitely best to just ask at the moment

KimH88 · 22/04/2020 20:56

No photographs or videos are allowed I was told.

Slinkerbell · 25/04/2020 13:48

@BuffaloCauliflower which Window to the Womb was this? I have called a local one in London and they told me they weren't allowing partners in.
Also in the same situation as OP and really quite gutted.

ChickenDipper28 · 25/04/2020 14:47

I've got a Window To The Womb scan tomorrow and partners are allowed in ☺️

Lllot5 · 25/04/2020 14:52

I know I’m going to get told off for this but didn’t have scans when I was pregnant and we managed🤷‍♀️

Laanie · 03/05/2020 12:22

He waited in the car park, and it wasn't bad! I did book a private one for two weeks for now that he will be allowed to attend. He said he would love to see it move so that's what we'll do!
Also turns out I am 14 weeks not 12, so it's a gender scan! Eeek!!

Slinkerbell · 03/05/2020 13:28

Didn't go private in the end and had my nuchal scanlast week.
Felt quite nervous beforehand. A few seconds in to the scan and I found out it was twins, which is probably exactly the kind of news I didn't want to have to digest, alone & sobbing in a room full of researchers.
Babies are healthy and for that I am v. grateful, but what a bloody shock. 😳

Hannah58 · 03/05/2020 20:25

Which Window to the Womb did you go to? I’ve got one booked tomorrow but I’ve just messaged them and they said my partner can come in but he’ll have to wait in reception 😔

lockdownpregnancy · 11/05/2020 20:27

I had my 20 week scan today and as much as it hurt not to have DH there with me, my sonographer and her colleague were amazing with me! We had a good old chat and a giggle and they made the experience the best it could have been! I was so relieved everything was ok and had a lovely 30 minute scan with them! Everything was good and they were just the best! So pleased and so relieved!

Cherryrainbow · 11/05/2020 21:22

Had my scan today and it was great the sonographer lady was lovely and chatty. My partner and son waited in the car outside.
In the Unit we all had to wear masks and gloves and the staff all had PPE as well. Chairs set apart at 2m x

doughnutmuffin · 11/05/2020 21:33

I had my 20 week scan (in Northern Ireland) today, found out its a girl Grin the staff were lovely and let me FaceTime my husband so we found out the sex together

KimH88 · 12/05/2020 11:42

I had mine yesterday we're having a BOY 😊💙

lastonetime · 12/05/2020 12:13

Got mine at 3:30 today, been told I can take a 10 second video to show my partner

Birry · 12/05/2020 12:28

I have my 12 week scan next week. No partners allowed so we paid for an early scan which he could attend with me. Well worth the money to see the smile on his face when we saw our baby 😊

danidella · 12/05/2020 12:34

Im due my first scan on June 1st. Nothing stated in the letter about no partners but my midwife suggested i ring the unit a few days before to ask if he is allowed in. If not ill ask to have a few photos printed and if i can take a video for my DH

sabtom · 12/05/2020 13:20

Can anyone recommend any private clinics where partners are allowed to attend? Preferably south London but willing to travel anywhere in London. I know my OH said it's ok he can't attend the first scan (NHS) but I know he's really gutted Sad And not only that he'll miss hearing the heartbeat for the first time, I want him there incase I get bad news and will really need him there for support.

NI86 · 12/05/2020 13:21

@doughnutmuffin do you mind me asking which hospital you had your scan at? I'm in NI too and have my 20 week scan in a few weeks. I'm hoping to be allowed do something similar

Oatmilk1 · 12/05/2020 13:30

@sabtom peek a baby in Mitcham is open. They allowed 1 visitor when I went about 4/5 weeks ago.
