Scanxiety

I have my 12 week scan in a few hours time and I’m just a bundle of nerves.
I’ve never got this far in a pregnancy before so when I had some bleeding at 9 + 3 I thought things were over. I had a scan the next day and there was a heartbeat but I can’t get the thought of a missed miscarriage out of my head.
Is this level of anxiety normal? I can’t find stats on missed miscarriage so I’m panicking.

I’m sorry - I can’t really give any advice but I feel exactly the same way. My 12 week scan is 3 weeks away. I have barely any symptoms and I’m terrified to the point where it’s making me ill. Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone I’m feeling like that.

Hopefulhen · 21/04/2020 23:02

Thank you for responding, it makes it better to know this isn’t just me. I’ve been feeling less tired and sick for the last few weeks as well so that’s helping feed my anxiety too. Fingers crossed all is well for both of us.

You’re definitely not alone in feeling like that, I always feel incredibly anxious before scans and am not a generally anxious person. If you already saw a heartbeat at 9 weeks the risk of miscarriage goes down massively. Good luck this morning!

Good luck with your scan. No advice but sympathise with you. I've had a few scans now for various issues and get just as nervous at each one.

I have my scan this morning too and have been awake for hours already worrying! I saw my baby at 6+6 with a lovely strong heartbeat but still anxious. I think it's normal to worry, especially you've had a loss or anything before- I think it's just motherhood! Fingers crossed it goes well today for you OP x

@Hopefulhen Good Morning and good luck for you scan this morning, you’ll feel much better once you’ve seen your baby on the screen. I’m not sure if that level of anxiety is normal but it’s exactly how I felt even after seeing heart beats at 7&9 weeks. At 12 weeks the baby was perfectly fine. Let us know how it goes x

I had my scan yesterday and the fear and anxiety was unbearable it's the worst feeling! All was ok!
Good luck xxx

Mega anxiety. I’m having an early 10 week scan today because I can’t wait any longer (and DH can come) and I’m so worried. I’ve had nothing to indicate anything’s wrong but I know that might not mean anything.

Good luck all x

All good news at scan Smile baby measuring at 10+5 although I was going on 10 weeks today (might be a day or two out but not that much, so think it’s just big, which is a comfort!) new EDD 13th of November. Feeling very relieved.

Wow great scan picture for 10 weeks @BuffaloCauliflower, congratulations 🙌🌈

Good luck with your scans! I had a mmc last year so I know exactly the scanxiety you're feeling! I have my 20 week scan next week and I'm already feeling the nerves, even though I heard heartbeat 3 weeks ago.

sel2223 · 22/04/2020 17:15

How did it go OP? I always get horrendous anxiety before scans so I know what you're going through! Good luck

Hopefulhen · 23/04/2020 04:42

She’s still there! Very wriggly so it took a while to get all the measurements but they said it all looks very normal and NT was low risk in combination with my NIPT.
I couldn’t care less how uncomfortable the scan was (they did an internal) because I was so over the moon when they said that she was moving and had a normal heartbeat.
Thank you, and good luck to everyone having their scan soon Smile
