8 weeks no heart beat, is there any hope?

My Dr has already said no but I'm clutching at stupid straws.

8 week scan yesterday, baby was measuring a few days ahead of my dates (8+3) but no heart beat. Booked for a D&C on Thursday.

I would seek second opinion to make sure and put my mind at rest. Try another sonographer. Some miscarriages are misdiagnosed and are viable pregnancies. But the chance of it being very small, prepare yourself mentally... Best of luck x

Usually if the CRL (size of the baby) measures 6mm or more and there’s no heartbeat it’s considered a miscarriage. If you are measuring 8+3 then the CRL is about 15mm. I’m sorry but you should definitely be seeing a heartbeat by this stage.

Not sure if this is any help to you but I went for a private scan at which we thought we were 8 weeks there was just a sac no heartbeat and they said my dates must be out and could be upto 2 weeks! So to go back 2 weeks later. I was worried to be honest for 2 weeks but when I went back there was a baby and heartbeat i say a baby because I was expecting to see a peanut shape but it was a proper baby and they said I was around 10 weeks!! No idea what happened the second scan was with a different sonographer and she said she's not sure why they didn't see anything else! My fingers are crossed for you x

Thanks. I know this myself but it's so hard to accept. X
