Antenatal classes

I'm sure this topic has been done to death but I'm 14 weeks pregnant with my first and would really appreciate some advice. I'm torn between signing up for the classic NCT course and one I'd never heard of before called HPHB (happy parents happy baby). Considerations are:

  1. HPHB seems quite unknown and local classes are only available starting when I'm either 26 weeks or 36 weeks. One seems too early and the other too late.
  2. NCT obviously highly regarded but wonder whether right for us and also more expensive.

Would be great to get some thoughts/experiences.

26 weeks is not really too early.
Does your hospital offer any antenatal classes? I only did those at my local trust, most were free, and did alright with those.
A few friends did NCT courses and had mixed feedback, some loved it, some not so much, all depending on who delivered them- like everywhere else.
Can you enquire about the other course on social media- local mum groups, etc?

I haven't attended yet so I can't comment on whether I have made the right choice but I have signed up for nct there were a few different venues I could have gone to. We selected the one that did the course over 2 full days on a Saturday plus one mid week bf session. At the time of booking we would have struggled to attend the courses that were all mid week evening sessions because of our commutes. The course I'm doing now will be via zoom. I didn't do much research but from speaking to friends and family some of the negativity was from luck of the draw things - e.g. Not clicking with the course organiser or the other participants.

I would have a look at what the sessions will look like in a covid 19 world and how the session would fit around you as well as the reviews. My sessions are arranged between 32 and 33 weeks.

I did NCT and found it really useful - I knew a bit but my husband knew nothing so it was good for him to have some information too! Still keep in regular touch with the women from the course too so that's a real bonus.
