Thoughts on baby boy name!

We chose to find out the gender at our 20 weeks scan to bring some positivity to a bleak time! we are having a baby boy! We are pretty set on the name Zack as it goes well with the surname. So we wanted a short 4 letter name which isn’t in the top ten, a little different but not out there and we both love Zack. Then I read an old thread on here which said it was a chavs name, only rough chavvy kids are called Zachary/Zach/Zac/Zack which has clouded my decision now. I don’t know any Zack’s and just loved the name. Is it trashy?

I like it and I don’t see it as chavvy (and if I’m being really honest with myself I can be a bit of a snob)
I think Zach is a nicer spelling, and prefer ‘whole’ names used so Zachary, nn Zach, but it’s not my child Smile

Clo12 · 20/04/2020 12:58

BuffaloCauliflower I like full names as well but my partners surname is really long and just sounds better with a short name. I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t/doesn’t think it’s chavvy

Zack isn't chavvy, it's lovely

Lyris · 20/04/2020 13:12

I dont think its chavvy either :)

Tableclothing · 20/04/2020 13:13

Zach is as solid a biblical name as Mary or Joseph.

I know two Zachs, both lovely, intelligent, kind boys.

Ruby8719 · 20/04/2020 13:25

It’s lovely, not chavvy at all and I think loads of names are chavvy Confused

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2020 13:27

I don’t think it’s chavvy either.

DressingGown87 · 20/04/2020 13:43

I like the name Zach. And the people / little boys that I know with that name, are not chavvy. I can think of a lot worse!

Clo12 · 20/04/2020 13:53

Thank you all!! We love the name just when you read threads you start doubting yourself. I really need to stop worrying and go with what we want :) xx

Zach rather than Zack/Zac/Zak

Bettie2192 · 20/04/2020 13:58

Zach isn’t chavvy at all, it’s cute! You’re making me like it now lol.

Zach is a great name. Zack looks like a typo imo

FilthyforFirth · 20/04/2020 14:06

100% not chavvy. Am surprised to hear this. I think it is a lovely name, though agree the spelling Zach is better. I thik of it as thoroughly middle class Smile

MichelleOR84 · 20/04/2020 14:12

Zack is 100% not trashy at all ! It’s a perfect choice !

When I picked my baby’s name I made the mistake of looking up peoples opinions on the name . Every name ever will have negatives opinions from some people . It made me second guess the name but in the end I’m glad I stuck with it .

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 20/04/2020 14:14

I think it's a lovely name but would spell it zach

CrazyCatLady2788 · 20/04/2020 14:23

It's lovely and not trashy at all!
I'm a teacher and every Zach/Zack I've taught has been delightful!! I'm going to have the problem of relating every name to kids I know/teach when we pick ours 🤣

Clo12 · 20/04/2020 14:26

MichelleOR84 I think this is exactly where I have gone wrong! I don’t know why I looked it up as of course everyone has their own opinion and not everyone can like the same names.

Everybody’s positivity has lifted my mood and made me shake off the doubt. I need to go with what me and my partner want, not let people negative opinions bother me. It’s not chavvy to me.

CrazyCatLady2788 Being a teacher must be so difficult to pick names as all the naughty children’s names will be the bottom of your list now.

The only reason I personally wouldn't use the name Zack is because that was my dobermans name.

There's nothing at all wrong with it. It's a lovely simple name :D
I went with Adam for much the same reason, his last name is Arabic, 11 letters and a hyphen long 😂

Craiglang · 20/04/2020 14:35

I know quite a few Zac/Zach/Zacks and, tbh, the name is tainted by those particular children so it's hard to be unbiased. I do prefer the Zach spelling though. If you like it, don't worry about what other people think.

CrazyCatLady2788 · 20/04/2020 15:22

@Clo12 exactly, go with what you and your partner like and don't think about anyone else's opinion! I suppose you can't please everyone anyway and once everybody know's your little boy's name after he is born they will become used to it and couldn't imagine him being called anything else 😊.

AmelieTaylor · 20/04/2020 15:26

I quite like Zach. (Nicer than Zak or Zack IMO)

I'd use Zachary though and MY surname if I wasn't married. (Not that you asked, but 🤷🏻‍♀️)

Cherryrainbow · 20/04/2020 17:44

It's a great name. My sister grew up with a best friend Zach who is lovely her dad even joked on her wedding day he couldn't have asked for a better son in law - apart from Zach lol.
