Hello I was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar. I've had 4 positive pregnancy test, 2 of which are clear blue that suggested 1-2. However based on my lmp I would be around 9 weeks. I had an early scan yesterday which there was no gestational sac. Could I just be too early to pick anything up? Has anyone had this with a positive outcome ?

Hiya, hope you're okay, I understand this can be a very worrying time. When did you take the pregnancy tests? If it was recently you may have just ovulated much later and only be around 4-5 weeks so they wouldn't see anything on a scan as things are tiny at this stage. Have they offered you another scan in 10-14 days?

I took the clear blue on the 11th and 12th, but I took the two before on the 6th or 7th But I think I completely ignored it and just listened to the midwife. But based on that I would only be 4 weeks. They have booked me an appointment for today at the early pregnancy unit. So not sure if they will just measure my Levels of hcg there ?🤷‍♀️ I just thought I was crazy as I've had 4 positives and seeing nothing was there x

Were they able to do an internal scan? As that is better in early pregnancy before 7 weeks, an external scan would struggle to see anything clearly before that stage. EPU should be able to offer you this, or as you say they may suggest blood tests. Hopefully you'll have answers soon.

I'm afraid I didn't have a positive outcome in the same situation. By 9 weeks you should be able to see something on the scan. If you haven't had any bleeding I would be concerned that you have an ectopic pregnancy. With me the early pregnancy clinic took bloods to check for my HcG levels then they took them again 48 hours later to see if they'd gone up or down. It's a tough wait for answers unfortunately. It could just be that you're actually only 4 or so weeks gone in which case it could be too early to see anything on the scan, but the bloods will give a good indication.

Are you periods normally regular? You could have skipped one and then ovulated. You could just be a lot less pregnant than your LMP would suggest.

You should check your HCG levels and do the blood test. First, if they doubles over 48 hours, it is likely that you are having a uterine pregnancy, no matter the number. If they rise but are far from doubling, it is a bad sign. Second, once your levels are above 2000-3000, you can see your gestational sac on ultrasound.
Wishing you the best.

Thank you, just been for my appointment at the early pregnancy unit. All in all they believe I was just too early to see on the scan. She has taken my blood and said she will contact me regarding the levels and when I need to come back etc. She said there was no sign of miscarriage or ectopic but can't be sure untill Ive for this blood test result back. Hopefully everything's okay! X

@cydb hi sorry im a few months late. Im currently going through the same. Had early scan last night sae the ges sac but nothing else. Maybe im not as far gone as i thought. Im due at tje hospital today for bloods and scan. What was your outcome?

cymb · 28/12/2020 11:48

@Emmav2020 unfortunately for me I miscarried a week later. I went for blood tests and my levels were 400, then I went for a repeated blood test 2 days later, but before finding the result I ended up miscarrying and it being confirmed in the hospital: then I received my blood test results the same day to say they had dropped to 30. I hope this wouldn't happen to you! And fingers crossed you are too just to early to show atm. Just keep in mind if your less then 6 weeks or your hcg levels are lower then 1500hcg then the baby would not be visible just yet x.
