30 weeks and itchy

Hi ladies
Im currently 30 weeks and 3 days pregnant with twins. I had to go into hospital 3 weeks ago for an emergency blood test due to itchy hands and feet at night.
I've still not had any blood test results come back and the itching is worse. It's all over and all day and all night. I'm even waking in the night due to how itchy I've been.
I've also just noticed I've come out with small purple spots on my legs. The spots aren't raised they're like under the skin (sorry if that's confusing).
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be.

Thank you for any advice x

I had similar. Hopefully the hospital has tested you for obstetric cholestasis? That causes itching. I didn’t have it, my itching was purely hormonal. No amount of cream or any other medication helped. I was so itchy I lay awake crying at night because I was so exhausted. I scratched my skin red raw. As soon as I gave birth it stopped.

You need to chase up your bloods, Itching in pregnancy needs to be monitored. Call and ask your midwife or hospital.

Good luck

I had itchy legs and midwife advised to wear flight socks as lack of movement can cause varicose veins

I'm not sure what they tested for I was told after calling the first time to go straight in for bloods. That was 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard nothing and it just appears to be getting worse.
I'm also not sure what the purple spots could be

Could the purple spots be from where you've shaved your legs? x

Laurens96 · 20/04/2020 00:29

I thought that but I have them all up my leg including my things and I haven't shaved above my knees so it wouldn't be that high up if it was from shaving

I had the same really itchy hands and feet, had bloods done at my midwife appointment and results were back the next day so I would definitely ring to check if they're back. I'm guessing they would have contacted you if it was obstetric cholestasis but still better to ring them for piece of mind

Mine was also purely hormonal. I found washing my feet before bed in cool water helped and drying them with the hairdryer on cool setting

Hope it improves for you
