Hi,

I have just joined here so I would appreciate some advice. I have just come off microgynon and wanted to hear from anyone how long it look them to conceive after coming off that particular pill? Did it happen within a few months coming off it or did it take some time? We have just decided we wanted to try.

Thanks for any advice :)

HiOP,

First time round it took 3 months, second time round less than a month. Good luck

Holly3 · 20/04/2020 21:33

Hi! I was on this pill for years, when I came off it did take around 14 months to fall pregnant - I'm now pregnant with our second DC and I decided not to go back onto it, we fell in the first week this time. Good luck xx

Pumpkin108 · 20/04/2020 21:54

Straightaway. Came off this feb after 10 years. Positive test 10th March

Aec14 · 14/06/2020 12:14

I stopped taking microgynon on the 25th of April, I had the usual withdrawal bleed a few days later which lasted 2-3 days and nothing since. It has now been 44 days since the end of the withdrawal bleed and no sign of AF. I had regular periods prior to taking microgynon and would say I had been on that pill for around 7 years. I took two pregnancy tests towards the end of may which were negative. Should I take regular tests if we are TTC, I'm confused as didnt think I would be ovulating if I have not seen AF? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Aec14,

I'm the original poster of this thread. We are in the same boat at the minute. I came off pill around the same time as yourself, withdrawal after and then I have had no AF since and tests coming back negative.

It's also hard to know when to do ovulation tests.

Hello @LaDou thank you for replying to me Smile
It's some reassurance to know that we are in the same boat!

Yes I was considering getting ovulation tests but not sure how helpful they will be until I see AF. So frustrating, they dont make you aware of this when you start taking the pill Sad hope you are doing okay? How long do you think you will wait to see AF before going to the doctors?

Rushhomeroad · 14/06/2020 13:39

Positive test four weeks after stopping - had expected it to take 6-12 months as both mid thirties at the time!

Aec14 · 14/06/2020 13:41

@rushhomeroad Amazing, pleased for you! how long after stopping microgynon did you see AF?

Rushhomeroad · 14/06/2020 13:48

Stopped taking it at the end of a bleed, next period didn't show up and did a test and was positive!
(second pregnancy was also surprising - had a sick toddler so only DTD once in three months (with condom) and was pregnant straight away!)

Aec14 · 15/06/2020 14:01

Day 45 since end of withdrawal bleed and still no AF. So frustrating. @LaDou how are you? Are you doing ovulation tests?

LaDou · 20/06/2020 01:11

Hey @Aec14,

Still no sign of AF. What about you? I had been doing ovulation tests but it got disheartening.

Me either @LaDou. I have read so many stories about some women waiting 6-12 months before they see AF after coming off microgynon. I havent used ovulation tests yet. How many days has it been for you since the end of the withdrawal bleed? Hope you're ok!! Are you TTC despite not seeing AF yet?

LaDou · 30/06/2020 12:04

Hey @Aec14,

Sorry only responding. Still no sign of AF and I've lost count of the days now. Keep feeling like things are happening but they aren't, boo. Yeah we are still TTC anyways, just fingers crossed something happens.

It's kinda ironic cause I've spent the past 12 years trying not to get pregnant Hmm and now I want to its not happening. Will just have to be patient and what will be will be.

How are you getting on?

X

Hello @LaDou same! No sign and sort of lost count which I think is a good thing. Better to be relaxed about it and let our bodies get back to normal without the added stress of overthinking it.

I know it’s crazy, I didn’t think I’d want to see AF so much Hmm

I keep feeling like things are happening too! Keep me posted . Hopefully it will be any day for us :) xx

Aec14 · 05/07/2020 09:22

Hey @LaDou how are you?
Yesterday I took a test by chance and it came back positive!! I took three more to confirm it including a clear blue week predictor which said I am 3+ weeks pregnant. We are so happy and just hoping things go smoothly for us as it's very early days.

Sending you well wishes and good luck!! Xx

Centaurpede · 05/07/2020 10:14

I had no periods for 3 and a half months after coming off, then I had a six week gap before my next one, then was pregnant before the next.

StellaDelMare · 05/07/2020 10:17

I came of Rigevidon (which I believe is the same as microgynon but a different brand name) two months ago as I wanted to give my body a break before TTC. I got my first real period after a month and had regular cycles since. I had been on the pill for 10 years prior to this.

LaDou · 08/07/2020 13:58

Hey @Aec14,

Awww delighted for ya!!! Hope everything is going well. Have you been to the docs yet?

Think I'm seeing some potential signs, had what I thought was AF but it was very very light and only lasted a day. Fingers crossed.

Xx

I was on the pill for 12 years and came off it last September then got a positive test at the end of January. I think the key thing to focus on is how long it takes for your periods to return and your cycle to regulate. My first period came 28 days after my last withdrawal bleed so I thought great, we're in with a chance here. But after that first month my cycles were all over the place and it was hard to be sure if or when I was ovulating, we obviously just got lucky with our timing in January. If I was you I would give your body some time to return to its normal rhythm before you start trying so you know exactly where you stand. Good Luck!

LaDou · 12/08/2020 11:14

Hi guys,

Needs some advice again. So on the 8th July AF finally made an appearance after coming off the pill in April. It felt like a period I used to get before I went on the pill (I used to get severe cramps, so bad I use to struggle when I was in school). Thought great we are back to normal here. The 1st of August weekend I even had egg white discharge.

My DH and I literally were at it all month so I can't see how we would miss an ovulation. Now im 7 days late (if AF was back on track), did a pregnancy test on Saturday past (was 3 days late) and it was negative.

I have so many symptoms at the minute. Have cramps (not severe like when I have AF), a slight pulling sensation on my right side, sore breasts, bloating, tiredness and this past few mornings I have felt like I was going to be sick.

If anyone has been in this situation before or any advice at all would be helpful?

Xx

Hey! I was on Regivedon which is essentially the cheaper version of mycrogynon. I came off this after being on it for around 8 years. It took me around 3 or 4 months to get an actual period & then 6 months from then to fall pregnant.
Aew2020 · 12/08/2020 12:53

Hey @LaDou! You might be testing to early. I went through this too, I was testing and they came back negative. When I went for my first ultrasound they dated me 6 weeks 4 days and when I looked back I could see that I had false negatives due to testing to early and the HCG level not being high enough. Try testing again in a week. Hope this helps. Wishing you all the best! Keep me posted :)

LaDou · 12/08/2020 13:04

@aew2020 Thanks so much for your response. I've attached a photo of the brand I used, it says it's early response although I dont know if they're any use.

How many weeks roughly were you getting a false negative?

Xx
