Hi everyone! I am 5 weeks pregnant and experiencing some cramps in my lower back and uterus, really similar to period cramps. No bleeding yet. Is that normal?! I had a miscarriage last July and have been TTC ever since. Don't want it to happen again!

I had loads of really strong period cramps between 5 and 8 weeks. REALLY strong, I would go to the loo and be absolutely sure there was blood.
I did have bleeds but not connected to the cramping and everyone reassured me that cramps are very normal in early pregnancy.

I had really bad cramps between 4 and 6 weeks pregnant. I had an early scan to double check everything was ok and they picked up a heartbeat... She is now 9 months old and asleep in my arms!
I was told it is the uterus stretching... I am sure everything is fine but if you are at all concerned ring your midwife.
Congratulations on your pregnancy :)

Ahh thank you! That's good news - it does literally feel like I'll go to the loo and my period will have started. I guess it's still really early day! Thank you Smile

I had exactly the same with both my pregnancies, it felt just like period pains. No problems and 2 healthy babies! Try not to worry.

Thank you! I've been sitting with a hot water bottle on me all day and still slightly cramps but it's eased a bit - hopefully that's a good sign! Smile

Absolutely normal I was worried and felt really reassured by reading comments. I'm 16 weeks now, they eased around 10 weeks but I still get them on and off, it's the uterus expanding down there!

Mp0304 · 19/04/2020 17:31

I had them and still get them now at 14 weeks when Baby is having a growth spurt and stretching my insides! Can be so worrying though, I understand how you're feeling xx

Mild cramps can be normal but you shouldn't be in a lot of pain. Hopefully it settles down for you

I too had bad cramps between 5-7 weeks I think it's the uterus stretching and the placenta properly bedding in Smile

I had this with all 3 pregnancies- basically just felt exactly the same cramping as I feel when my period’s about to start, on and off for about 2 weeks. You’d think by pregnancy 3 I’d have stopped worrying about it but I was still so worried, it’s just a scary feeling! But everything fine.
