Hi ladies fourth baby now overdue other 3 were already born by this stage. Has anyone used Castor oil to induce labour if so what was your experience did it work? Any awful side effects?

I heard it’s not good for baby because it can cause them to poo inside you.

erised · 19/04/2020 14:08

Always thought this was a big no-no.

KHall84 · 19/04/2020 14:08

Therollockingrogue · 19/04/2020 14:09

Mummyspider27 · 19/04/2020 15:02

Sex

Honestly, it’s the only one that midwives will really recommend as it works

nicciw87 · 19/04/2020 15:13

@Soubriquet tried that yesterday resulted in 10 hours of braxton hicks with no baby put me off doing it again

Soubriquet · 19/04/2020 15:15

Well..not much else but patience I guess

When are you due to see midwife again? They may offer to do a sweep

RandomMess · 19/04/2020 15:23

I reckon you will have a rapid birth when it does happen...

Bite the bullet and have sex again...

Windyatthebeach · 19/04/2020 15:27

Not sure why you are in a hurry to have 4 dc during lockdown instead of 3??
Currently have 6 dc at home so not being disrespectful at all of your choices!!

Don't do it. A woman on another forum I used did it and the subsequent sudden bowel contractions put her baby into distress. The baby passed meconium and inhaled it in the womb and ultimately was stillborn.

Go a walk with one foot on the road and one on the pavement, and have sex again. And get as much sleep as you can manage!

nicciw87 · 19/04/2020 16:18

Have had 2 sweeps now and hasn't done anything so far and next appointment isn't til Thursday when I will be given induction date. Anyone ever try nipple stimulation? And @Windyatthebeach because I have really bad spd in agony constantly so just need him out now

Mummyspider27 · 19/04/2020 16:36

Heard some success stories with nipple stimulation! Another woman on here was desperate and tried and went to labour that night! And a friend of mine did it and waters went in 10mins! Worth a try? No harm... xx

KHall84 · 19/04/2020 16:48

@nicciw87 am going to try nipple stimulation tonight or tomorrow I think but am going to use my breast pump to do it as if its hand stimulation they recommend an he on each one xx

2beautifulbabs · 19/04/2020 16:59

No don't touch it it's a massive no no it's harmful to the baby it can stress them out and cause them to poo inside you which is dangerous to them

ByRareBee · 05/10/2024 14:26

Do not use castor oil if you are overdue. It causes terrible diarrhoea. You can not leave the bathroom. If labour started it would be embarrassing and a health risk. Labour did start with 30 hours but I would not recommend taking it. An old lady suggested it when I was overdue . She meant well but I spent all day in bathroo.

BusyCaz · 05/10/2024 15:50

I tried it years ago, not only did it taste vile, it didn't work.
