Feet have grown since birth

Hi there.

I had my little girl last summer and pretty much all of my shoes don't fit anymore. I was hoping by now my feet would be back to normal, but they seem to be a whole size bigger. Blush. I have a couple of expensive pairs and there is absolutely no way they are going back on my feet. Has this happened to anyone else? If I mention it to anyone they look at me like I'm stupid or something.

I had terrible PGP so I'm wondering if this is to do with the relaxin hormone and it has softened the arch of my foot causing it to be a bit flatter?

Thank you Smile

Yes, I went from a four to a five after my second pregnancy, and that was a while ago so they’re not changing back!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 19/04/2020 12:03

Sorry, but yes - it’s really common for feet to go up a size permanently. I had to get rid of some very lovely shoes.

FanSpamTastic · 19/04/2020 12:07

Me too - my kids are now teenagers and my feet went up a size after the first one and have never gone back smaller.

MadauntofA · 19/04/2020 12:09

Yep, whole size here too, and pregnancy was 15yrs ago!

rainbowlou · 19/04/2020 12:11

Yes I went up a size and it was years ago!

percentageshelp · 19/04/2020 12:11

Yes half a size bigger and also wider. Happens to most people I think?

Picklypickles · 19/04/2020 12:12

Yes, I went from a 4 to a 5 with my first and then to a 5 1/2 sometimes 6 after my second. My youngest is 6 now and I've only recently thrown out all my old favourite shoes after having to accept that I just have giant feet now and they are staying that way.

timetest · 19/04/2020 12:15

I went up half a size with each pregnancy. I recently found they have now gone back to pre pregnancy size since I’m post menopause.

Starfish1234 · 19/04/2020 12:20

Yep me too. 1 size with first pregnancy and about another half with second. All my shoes had to go to charity

Nelbert19 · 19/04/2020 12:31

Lordy I’m already a size 7, I’ll have flippers!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 19/04/2020 12:40

(Looks at size 9s without comment).

ElegantPeacock · 19/04/2020 13:09

Thanks for your replies. 0retty normal then.

Looks like I'll be opening up ebay very soon. Sad I was hoping maybe they would go back to normal size after a year or something

I just read Drew Barrymore in today’s Times talking about how this happened to her!

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 19/04/2020 13:32

Yep, I went from a 5.5 to a 6 after DS, and then up again to a 7 after DD. I'd hoped it was temporary, but they're both older than 10 now!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 19/04/2020 13:36

Yep flatter and wider

SummerHouse · 19/04/2020 13:36

I went up a size. So did Denise Van Outen. It's an exclusive club.

happytoday73 · 19/04/2020 13:39

Yep.. About half size with each pregnancy... But also considerably wider... Waste of time liking shoes now... Not many nice 8EEE around!

turnandfacethenamechange · 19/04/2020 15:33

Sorry but the title made me laugh. I was about to come here and comment "it's ok, they're supposed to" Grin

LadyEv · 19/04/2020 15:50

I hope my feet don't get any bigger. I'm already a size 8. It's already hard enough to get nice shoes in that size. Having said that I've been in pressure stockings since my emcs 3 weeks ago and they've given my legs a lovely shape, that they've not had in years. I hope they keep looking like this once I stop wearing them.

quarantinevibes · 19/04/2020 15:53

Sorry but my feet have grown each tome. I went from a 4 to 5 then with the last one to a 6. I can already see they are growing again!! The 6 already look out of proportion with my body and I can just see they’re getting to a 7. Shock

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 19/04/2020 15:57

Yes, permanently from 6-7 with dd1 four years ago. Very sad to lose a lifetime of shoes. Good news is no subsequent changes with dd2.

itsamadmadworld · 19/04/2020 16:01

I went up a size whilst pregnant, always been a small 5 with wide feet, but with the swelling and everything I went up to a six and had to wear flip flops because my feet were too big to fit into even wide feet shoes 😫 my feet are still too wide for some of my shoes which is heartbreaking as it's all the nice ones but I can buy children's shoes again so luckily not breaking the bank replacing them 😂

Nix2020 · 19/04/2020 16:05

Me feet shrunk, I was a 4 now a 3and a half. Well jel of the growing feet

PippaPegg · 19/04/2020 22:18

Yep had to get shot of the lot. Except 2 pairs of boots which had always been too big and now don't need extra socks anymore!

Fucking soul destroying. Had one black suede pair of courts that were perfect gorgeous things. Had to get rid. Half heartedly search on ebay sometimes looking for another pair. Never seen them. Sad times!
