I’m around eight weeks and I’ve had such a rubbish night of sleep! Does increased need to wee really start this early? :( woke up at 3.30 again and haven’t been able to go back to sleep.

Yes. I’m sorry - best get used to the new normal! 😬

But massive congrats on your pregnancy..!

Yup, and for me got worse as pregnancy went on - sorry!

Yep - your kidneys are in overdrive. I've had less midnight weeing in the second trimester, but am expecting it to ramp up again in the third... joys.

peachypetite · 19/04/2020 07:54

Managed to drift back for a few hours but broken sleep always makes you feel so shit in the morning. Better get used to it.

I'm only 6 weeks, but have been up every night between 12-2am!!! I am drinking more in the day though and yesterday worked out I'd drunk 3litres- 2 coffee, 1 glass milk and the rest just water! I'm sure I never drank this much before.

peachypetite · 19/04/2020 08:03

I’ve stopped all caffeine so it’s just milkshake and water. Might try not drinking a couple of hours before I go to bed.

I'm so thirsty all the time do drinking loads more than usual which makes it worse! Helps prepare you for the last few weeks when you need a pee roughly every 23 minutes.

lettersbyowl · 19/04/2020 08:42

Normal! I had this in first trimester less in the second and it's back now in the third!

N12345625 · 19/04/2020 08:43

Yep! And it gets worse as pregnancy goes on... And then you won't sleep again when baby arrives haha.
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Yes, I was awful in first trimester, my sickness also used to start about 2am so it was pretty rough. It got better at about 13 weeks, now I'm 23 weeks and last couple of weeks I'm waking up a lot again. Good luck with your pregnancy.

Janaih · 19/04/2020 08:48

Yes it's normal unfortunately. Try and have a chlyamidia test if you can though, just to be sure.

peachypetite · 19/04/2020 08:50

Urgh being pregnant is just endless joy isn’t it. Up until now I’ve been sleeping for nine hours solidly. Looks like those days are already over! I didn’t even drink much yesterday, if anything, not enough.

After a few nights of waking up I decided to buy a little motion sensitive night light.
I have it positioned in the hall so it tracks bedroom to bathroom and gives just enough light to let me pee. I find that not turning the big lights on means I'm not waking up fully every time.

Prettylittlelady · 19/04/2020 09:36

Yes it’s normal in the first trimester! I’m currently 14 weeks and still getting up at least twice in the night. At the start of pregnancy I was getting up loads and turned out to be a UTI so although it’s normal it shouldn’t be excessive if you’re worried it’s too much, get checked out.

Chanel05 · 19/04/2020 10:21

Yep and also the wide awake time after is normal! I'm in the second trimester now and I've not needed to have 3am toilet trips quite as often.

peachypetite · 19/04/2020 10:31

Tbh even though it’s a stressful time to be pregnant, I am very thankful for no commute and being able to have naps during my lunch break!

Oh god yes. It happened all through the first trimester then a brief respite from weeks 16-22 then the weight of the baby started it off again. I think a personal best was 10 times in one night.

Umnoway · 19/04/2020 10:40

Yep, it’s hormones. It gets worse as the baby grows and crushes your bladder, sorry!

PrinnyPree · 19/04/2020 11:25

35 weeks now, sorry night peeing is the new normal, at least 2-3 times a night since about 7 weeks, guess its getting us ready for night feeds. Goodbye uninterrupted sleep. My thirst never seems to be quenched either I must go through at least 4 litres a day!

peachypetite · 19/04/2020 14:12

Thanks all!

I've been fine up until now - 24 weeks. Now it's a joke, I've counted today I've been up since 9am, it's now 2.15pm and I've need the loo 7 times, and am thinking about it again now Confused
