Hi there all,

I was wondering if you could give me tips please on wrap/carriers to carry a newborn in. There are so many on the market and wonder what’s best to carry baby in when around the house and going for a walk?

Thanks so much!!!

My advice would be to find a local sling library and try a few different kinds.

I tried a stretchy wrap, a woven wrap, and a couple of carriers (connecta and snugli). The wraps were a faff to get on and off, stretchy was easier to get baby in and out of but the woven was way more supportive. My wee one didn't seem to like being in the wraps either (he also hated a swaddle and being tucked in in bed!). The connecta was light but had uncomfortable straps and the snugli was okay. In the end I stuck to the buggy as my back and shoulders hurt too much but my DH and DB loved the snugli and both of them used it.

Definitely find your local sling library, and take baby with you.

You need to find one that suits both of you, and there are so many types and brands. The sling library will be able to point you in the right direction and let you borrow ones to try out.
