Hi, I'm new to the forum and a very anxious mum to be. Today I'm 22+6 and have been in hospital 2x this week due to red spotting. Eventually had to go to the colposcopy department for them to investigate why I'm spotting and was told that where I have a had a Leep operation 13 years ago and pregnancy is making the cervix more vascular I am spotting and not to worry unless it becomes a bleed. Has anyone else had this happen? I'm wondering if I'm now going to spot daily, which I have been for 3 days now or if it will become sporadic. Will it get worse. What have others experienced. Constantly worried and scared I'm going to loose the baby. I am a worrier though.

I can’t help but have had a LEEP under general last year. Did you have any scans to determine the length of your cervix?

I have been told that they may put a stitch in to help, have they discussed this with you? So far (although I’m only 12 weeks) I’ve not had any spotting, I was told by the lady who did my ultrasound scan that I would have an appointment at about 18 weeks to check the length of my cervix.

I think maybe you need to have a word with the consultant and ask what they will do to manage it.

Thank you Luckyme30. No one has ever mentioned measuring the length of my cervix so yes I will mention this to the midwives and see what they say. The consultant I saw in Colposcopy was not concerned, which was nice but it's just unnerving having red spotting when your brain says it's wrong.
I'm glad they have discussed things with you though. And congratulations. I will speak to my Midwife team and let you know what the outcome is.

Yes do let me know, hopefully they will keep an eye on you closely now they know. Although I’ve been told that as I only had one leep they probably won’t do the stich so don’t worry too much, they must have good reason to not be concerned about you :)

Hope all goes well for you and let me know how you get on

Hey, I’m going through what sounds a similar thing to you now and just been told I will be referred to have a colposcopy. How did you get on with everything in the end? X
